Mario Solis-Marich
Mario is sitting in for Bill Press this week. He's pretty entertaining, but I'm not sure how well informed about our favorite Senator.
Today, Mario said that no one, on either side of the aisle, is standing up for small business.

Time to post on Mario's blog.

1. He does need a wake up call!
I have been looking for an article that I believe appeared in a business publication, that highlighted Senator Kerry's work on behalf of small business owners. It was posted on the forum about a month or so ago. I have been unable to locate it. As soon as I do, I will e-mail Mario with the link.
Don't you get frustrated with people who are suppose to support Democrats and they don't even bother to check on things before they open their mouths.

2. Not frustrated.
Disappointed.

I know the article you're thinking of. Something about JK being a hero to small biz or something, wasn't it?

10. It's still there, you have to use search to find it though
Here's the Kerry part:

Sen. John Kerry
Democrat from Massachusetts
Ranking minority member, Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee

Republicans pilloried Kerry as antibusiness during the 2004 campaign, but few senators have done as much to promote entrepreneurship. Back in 1985, he sought out a spot on the Small Business Committee--a low-profile post for an ambitious man. His signature initiative in recent years, the BRIDGE Act, would create tax breaks on small-business stock. The bill hasn't gone very far, largely because he is a member of the minority party. But in November the Senate did pass Kerry's plan to provide low-interest loans to drought-stricken small businesses. He has also hounded the SBA over procurement data that makes it seem as if the government is awarding more contracts to small businesses than it is. "John Kerry is the biggest friend small businesses have in Congress," says Lloyd Chapman, head of the nonpartisan American Small Business League.

6. The Inc one? I just posted it.
Your post was incredible - The other thing I need to look for was the small business committee where Kerry was clearly (even more furious than usual) at the administration. I know Tay posted it several times.

7. Good
He's on Press for the next two days, and his blog doesn't seem very busy, so maybe he'll read it and comment.

9. I'm with you on that - I need to get organized too
I was just lucky that I went to Kerryvissionary's site today and saw it there. She has other things as well - but I thought that one was a nice real short summary to follow GV's.

Does anyone remember when Kerry really gave it to the Small Business Administrator - essentially saying the small business people were getting a bad deal from the govt?

12. No - You had tons of information and if he looks at it - he will be
educated and likely to never forget that Kerry did stuff on it.

I just thought if we all came over with reams of stuff, it would look co-ordinated. I loved your post. Yeah, Barretto - one of the quotes was perfect to portray Kerry as a regular guy sticking up for amall business.

when JK was questioning him. Either that or run out of the room. Poor bastard looked like he was going to be ill.

I'm so glad our site was a help in finding that article, and I applaud you for your initiative. Although I am the I Love John Kerry blogger who has the DU account so I can post here, 90% of the credit for the site and certainly the small biz article goes to Democrafty, my inspired colleague! She is thrilled that you found that entry useful!

15. He wrote minority small business programs
So frustrating. He's been the main driver behind minority small business in the SBA. He just proposed an Office of Minority Small Business Development. Look at all he's done.

It will be interesting to see if he reads his blog and actually changes his opinion. Yours also raises an interesting point which is that many leaders of the minority communities may not even be aware of this work. It does differentiate Kerry from other Senators who Policasistah mentions in her thread as having at least some AA support.

I remember in 2004, an article about Kerry speaking to a large pro-choice crowd and surprising the reporter by not speaking of the obvious, abortion, but about having been one of the first to start a rape victims support program and other things he's done in support of women. The effectiveness was probably because he was speaking of real things that he did that he still passionately believed in which filled real needs. It had more substance than just speaking of votes cast.

If he could reach the opinion leaders and the business leaders in the minority communities and get his name associated with these programs it would be great. Kerry's comments, post Katrina, about how reviving the small businesses was key to reviving N.O. are really not unique to N. O. or to surviving disasters. If these programs were good for those communities, Kerry needs to make that case and make sure people know that he was behind them. It would also counter the RW smear that he did nothing in Congress. (The WP blog still had at least one person repeating he had the worst attendance record in the Senate.)

I am having trouble, though, finding where you guys posted on his blog. Can you put a permalink to where you posted on his blog precisely, because I would like to read your comments. Thanks!

The first entry is dated April 15th, and is about his sitting in for Press. At the end of that post, there's a clickable "3 comments".
