I'm glad Congress is taking a week off, cuz then it gets nasty |

Edited on Fri May-26-06 11:32 AM by TayTay
The Congress is off next week for the Memorial Day break.
June 5th Sen. Frist will introduce the Constitutional Amendment that will bar 'Gay Marriage,' (or as we call it in Mass, marriage equality.)
Then Frist will put the Anti Flag-Burning amendment on the docket.
So, I hope you enjoyed the nice, sweet, wholesome discussion we just had. It's going to get really nasty. (BTW, the House is going to put a full-on discussion of the Iraq War onto it's docket. The Rethugs believe that a discussion on Iraq will favor them going into the midterms this year. They still believe that people are buying the 'Democrats are wussy' argument.)
Enjoy the week off! It's about to get horribly, unbelievably, desperately, nauseatingly awful. Cheers!

1. By all means let's pass an "anti flag burning" amendment. |
|
I can't think of any issue more pressing in the lives of American citizens today than the prevention of flag burning. Why, if any random person dares to burn an American flag (I assume that's the kind of flag they're talking about) I will no longer be able to function as citizen of this once proud nation. The flag is the only thing that keeps all of us from turning French. We MUST amend the Constitution to prevent this from happening. Go for it Bill!
(Least I forget :sarcasm:.)

2. Absolutely! This is a menace. |

I myself have never seen a flag-burning, but, as I live in Massachusetts, I'm sure it's only a matter or time before I happen upon one. (Dang, I forgot, what is the recommended method for disposing of old and tattered flags? The Boy Scout Manual says it's to burn it. I bet those sell-outs in Congress put in an amendment that says you can't have flag-burning unless it's done by a properly credentialed Boy Scout and the Flag in question has been deemed irreparable and damaged beyond even Bill Frist's ability to sew it back together. Equivocators.)
Also, Gay Marriage greatest dangers is that those gays that want to marry, well, they look just like you and me. I know there are two or three couples in my town who have married and I can't tell them apart from everyone else in town. (How are you supposed to 'get your hate on' if you can't tell who to hate?) Maybe we should just ban all marriage. That way no Gays can ever sneak in and get married, even by accident. (Not to mention the odd bachelor party where someone had too much to drink and woke up the next morning in a bed with some guy named Chuck, and well, it could happen, even by accident. Better to ban all marriage than let something like this happen. Or maybe ban all marriage outside of Massachusetts. Let anything sentient get married in Mass, cuz who cares what those nut-balls do anyway. If someone wants to marry their dog in Mass, well, who would know the difference in that wacko liberal state.)

It's actually funny how transparent their motives are. 'Lets appeal to the conservative base in anticipation of '06'. I do have to wonder if this rovian tactic isn't going to backfire this time. There are so many more important and pressing issues to deal with, that it makes the repubs in congress appear frivolous at this juncture if they pursue the good old reliables.

election. Well, will the Dem's stand and be counted on the constitutional amendment against gay marriage? (a waste of valuable time,we don't need a constitution amendment discriminating against Gay Americans who wish to marry with other more important and necessary issues needing to be discussed- the Repub's should be ashamed of themselves, but they won't.)Oh, and will the Dem's stand and be counted in regards to the Iraq War?
