More good news: Kerry campaign issues letter to Ohio SoS demanding recount
Nice to see people saying nice things about John.

From thread http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=203x169177 :

Senator Kerry's and Senator Edwards' state counsel for Ohio has issued a letter to Ohio Republican Secretary of State and Bush-Cheney '04 chair Kenneth Blackwell demanding an official investigation into voting machine tampering in Hocking County, RAW STORY has learned.

The letter, which was sent Wednesday, also asks that Blackwell require hand counts in any county where machines have been compromised, or have an independent expert inspect the machines. Hocking County elections official Sherole Eaton alleged that a Triad Election Systems representative disabled a machine and tried to plant unverified information into the recount at the House Judiciary Committee's election hearing Monday.

1. I Love To See This Kind Of News
Because then you get to rub it in all the naysayers faces. I know its mean but I can't help it anymore. They have gotten to be so mean and nasty with their remarks I have started fighting back! I think it is plain crazy some of the remarks they make about Kerry. So when we get good news I sure take advantage of the opportunity to rub it in.

2. It has been a rough day out in the Tin Hat Forum
No matter what Kerry does, these people will jump all over him. It IS NEVER enough. They will not be satisfied until he is skinned and skewered. I just do not get it.

Actually, I feel enlightened to be among the few people that know the truth.

3. it is getting very frustrating over there.
even more so hearing those comments from David Cobb. as much as i love Kerry, this isn't only about him, it's about the citizens of this country. it's' about the PEOPLE'S RIGHTS.

in our past, who has fought for the people's rights? THE PEOPLE. we have to fight for our own rights and not expect others to do it for us.

that's what Kerry did after Vietnam. As a citizen of the country he fought for people's rights. we need to follow his footsteps. I'm sure that's what he'd want us to do.

4. I have to say
I question Cobb's remarks...

Why would he say that? I did not want to start a flame war over there, but really??? Every time the Greens have run into a block, the Kerry team stepped in.

The Kerry "letters" are laying the foundation for future litigation. I know John Kerry. I respect Cobb for taking the initiative in getting the recount and I believe/hope that the Kerry team and the GLIBS are working closely to uncover the fraud. However, I can't help but question the motives behind his statement.

Cobb called Kerry out and said that Kerry is undermining and illegitimizing the recount, by not being more vocal and not contributing money. He also said the efforts so far by Kerry have been through paper letters that have no legal weight whatsoever.

he was a little more harsh than that, but so you dont' have to read the nauseating news piece, that is a brief summary.

some thought Cobb was being literal, others thought maybe it was set up this way to give Kerry a reason to come out - 'hey someone is calling him out to speak up, he better get on it and defend himself, etc....'.

i'm undecided, and honestly i'd like to not speculate. i'm more concerned about actions.

6. Lefty tension...

Cobb's remarks don't shock me, though they do sadden me.

One of the main reasons the Left is not as effective as the Right is all the infighting. You always have one faction attacking another for not doing "enough," not doing it the right way, not doing it with the right ideological foundation, for inadvertant perceived slights, etc. It's why it's so hard for us to get a powerful coalition together, even for the things we can all agree on (war based on deceit = bad/ civil rights + helping the poor and ill = good). There has always been so much strong tension between "outsiders" and "insiders" with regard to "the system." You know Cobb has anarchists chewing on his ass from his other side for being a "corporate sellout" too.

Now, you would think filthy rich industrialists on the one side, and hardcore Dominionist fundie Christians convinced of the evil of the material world on the other, would be mortal enemies. Somehow they've formed a tough coalition to get * and people like him into power and keep them there.

I don't want ONE POISONOUS BIT of either of those foul ideologies, but if someone could put that "unity for a greater purpose" stuff in a bottle, I have to admit I'd consider buying a little bit on consignment.

It works for them because they're authoritarian and like it that way, I guess. I just don't know what to do about that.

7. What are the chances that this is all psy ops
I don't know why Cobb would contribute to psy ops mind you. But the closer we get, and the more Kerry steps up, the more it seems things are posted to make us turn on him. Like the Cobb article. Like the abortion article where Kerry dares to question our approach to the subject. Like the Inaugaration article, which I think is just pure politicking, nothing more. It's just what you say in public, not what you're thinking in private. I know some people would like Kerry to verbally bitch-slap Bush in public, but somehow I don't think that would be such a good idea politically.

9. Damn I'm Glad I Wasn't Over There
Hell I can imagine what all the naysayers are saying tonight. OMG. Hell I would be in fights tonight with those people. I tell you I wonder about this Cobb guy's remarks not meaning that in a bad way but WTF? This doesn't make since to me. This don't even play into the other deal about Kerry being under the radar which is what I do believe. Maybe I'm wrong but from what I know about the man he wouldn't just up and quit and you will never get me to believe he has. But Cobb what is the deal?

10. Money
There was a call for $200,000 today. They need money. I was upset a couple weeks ago when Nader, or somebody, criticized Cobb over the cozy relationships of Green Party employees. But maybe there really was something to it. Kerry also signed on to that Arnebeck lawsuit, IIRC, so it's been more than just letters.

I have to say, I think the current voting scandal is a fiasco. It's been handled horribly. I would guess he's got his lawyers in there investigating so that when this current thing bombs, he can pick up the pieces and introduce legislation that will really fix this mess. That and clean campaign finance reform.
