MTP is doing a Hillary v Kerry segment
Edited on Sun Jun-25-06 10:26 AM by globalvillage
I think they're showing clips from TBA. Has anyone see this yet? I know MTP comes on later in Pitt than in most markets.

edit. Nevermind. They didn't.

1. Strange promo for a segment that never came up
They said a sort of "Dems slug it out moment" was coming up, and then they had a fairly reasonable discussion with a lot of 'but ifs' in it.

2. Two things
I didn't see MTP, but I saw a "Breaking News" segment on MSNBC around the same time. They were announcing the Iraq reconciliation plan and talking about how Gen. Casey's plan, whatever it is has to fall in line with Iraq's.

Then this article in the BBC:

It's all really odd given that the Republicans voted down withdrawal in any form and along with the Bush admin. have mocked the plans offered by Democrats!

3. I've got FTN on right now -
Boxer was on - interesting conversation how the democrats
were labelled as the party that wants to cut and run,
now Casey is talking about withdrawing troops, how do the Repugs explain that?
And how do they explain they support amnesty for Iraqis that kill Americans, after what happened.
lol.

Time to eat a little crow Sen Sessions?

4. Somewhat related
Did anybody see Feingold on MTP? I think he did an excellent job.

5. He did. He parried everything Russert threw at him
quite well. He was thoughtful, articulate and passionate. It was an excellent appearance. He defended the plan that he and Sen. Kerry proposed and particularly defended against the point that the timetable itself would become a problem. (Sen. Feingold adaptly pointed out that the amendment specifically says that the situation on the ground would dictate how many troops would be left to deal with actual situations in Iraq that really required US troop action.) There is a lot of flexibility in the Kerry/Feingold plan and Feingold did a great job of explaining this to Russert.

Russ did a great job.

6. I also think
it was good that Feingold & BOxer were on the news shows today rather than Kerry. They both did a good job (excellent for Feingold) in defending & explaining their position, and in the process may have deflected some of the punches.

7. Agreed - on both points
Feingold did excellent.
And I'm glad Kerry wasn't the one on the hot seat this week.

8. I just finished watching it
Here is my take:

1. Feingold was great, getting in all the points I wanted.

2. The D.C. Establishment punditocracy roundtable was annoying to watch. They're still on this Karl Rove "Cut and Run" bandwagon, and didn't really play up the timetable for troop withdrawals in Maliki's Reconciliation Plan. Then, due to Casey's phased withdrawal plan being leaked to the press, one of the journalists had the gall to say "the Bush plan and the Democrats' plan are really the same". What a lie!!! Bush has said over and over again no timetable for withdrawal. The Casey plan is, IMO, a bit of a sham. I've heard stuff like that before and then nothing changes. The political solution is the main point which is in the Kerry/Feingold plan, for which a timetable for troop withdrawals MUST be a part of. It was disheartening to hear about Hillary was consistently for the war and Feingold consistently against the war, and Kerry deemed a flip flopper. He never was for the war!!

In general, I don't listen to TV talk shows because they're so dumb, so that shows in my intolerance for their stupid blather.
