Poll question: Make it stop!!!! Another pickle my pixels thread
Today was feel the burn day. Body is talkin' to me and we still have to go finish up tomorrow. Earning a living is sooooo much fun. We (Ms F and myself) have decided this is the last time we go full throttle on this crap. Need to slow down and enjoy life. Clock is a tickin'.

Got my new lens today. Anxious as hell to try it out. If it works I'll have a Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro (mint condition-I take very good care of my crap) for sale. No, I didn't get the 60mm macro.... it's something completely different and very unique.

Now for a few "absence of color" snaps...

Three I took this just after sunset when there is that short window when there is still light available. Used the car door as a 'tripod'.

Turning Out the Lights Filmsie snap. I finally figured out what I was doing "wrong" which actually turned out to be "correct". So now I know how to do something wrong-the right way.

Mountain Wannabe This is just for TahitiNut. In memory of the theme.... "short". Used one of those check book suckin' polarizer filters cut especially for wide angle lenses. Blue sky went real black on conversion to B&W. Decided not to correct it. This is for you T-Nut
:applause:

Lost I don't know why I liked this. Just a simple trail snap but I liked the shadows. Conversion cranked these up a bit.

Chaos Another filmsie snap. I like this because it breaks all the photomographicalistic rules. No point to draw the eye. Tonal quality is erractic as hell. Use 14mm prime so have all kinds of perspective distortion going on. Rules suck! Chaos Rules!!!
:hippie:

Last Ride This is one of my less artsy fartsy roller coaster snaps.

Tree Took this with my Nikon Coolpix 950 on a rainy spring day. Took refuge under a huge friggin tree and noticed this wonderful abstract. This is full frame, no crop, no "photoshopping". Just a simple B&W conversion using a Blue :9 digital filter. No frills. Just like the abstract image going on. Not as much chaos as I'd like... but still like it.

I don't know what to enter. Noticed there is some confusion on the 'theme'. If my brain wasn't fried I'd like to respond to t-nut's thread. Maybe next week. The entries are rockin'. Amazing.

Thanks so much for lookin' and voting. Don't expect a quick reply to any questions. Next three days are going to be 24/3. Doubtful that I can even find time to experience some carnal knowledge let alone respond to a post. Is that what they call a "troll". Guess I'm the photogroup "troll" these days. Sorry. Give me a few months to earn some money and I promise that I'll return to my lovable annoying self.
:hi:

1. "Rules suck. Chaos Rules!!!"
:dunce:

Minus 4 points for a double crapagoon. Another minus 2 points for "can't write".

2. I like "Lost" the best, but
the "dull" tones of "Three" really make that image and "Last Ride" would be a worthy companion to your gallery submission. Here's a full-color analog of what I see in your "Lost" photo.

3. Thanks
"Three" is probably the most truthful of all these. That little short period of 5-10 minutes after a sunset produces a unique tone. Like yours... I was drawn to "Lost". I liked that the harsh shadows were a contrast to the isolation and lack of direction. Though the feeling in yours in much more pronounced.

BTW: I finished 9 roller coaster snaps. One roller coaster was one of 5 photos that I recently submitted to a gallery in San Diego. This one is going to be a bit tougher than the first one I got in. I'm just having fun. I see the biggest fault with contemporary photography is that it has lost its roots and has become more of a computer science than an art form. I don't know that I'll ever be a true "artist" but I'll keep tryin'.

4. Good Luck with the S.D. gallery.
Having fun matters more than "winning" since that, and giving, has more to do with the quality of your life than anything else. You are already an artist, and dealing with the tools, today computer processing, is just a detail. The fact that some use those tools to deceive does not mean they cannot be used to tell some truths, as you do in your photos.

7. I am a "Lost" fan, too...
I don't know why, but these sorts of shots appeal to me, too. Unfortunately, I'm hardly ever able to capture with the camera what I see in my head when I encounter these scenes. Yours is beautiful.

8. Voted for "Lost" .
Another very strong image.
The trees are wonderfully menacing.
Oh LOOK!.
I think I see a path.
Might be the way out......or it could lead to the Witch's cave.

"Tree" was interesting too.

5. I'm enamored by your bottom picture, Tree
If you look at it long enough it starts to come alive! It has the kind of eyes and face I think an old tree would have.

6. Thanks, F! I do like the 'short' mountain best.
The cyan/polarizer did good, imho.
