"Guy's List of Handy Photo Software and more"
http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~parsog/photo/software.html

It's a good list of software that is free or at least has a free trial period. Along with short summaries of some of the better known programs, there are a good number of more specialized programs that may be just what you need to deal with a specific task. One example is the list of programs for recovering data from flash cards.

I use Silkypix Pro Development for processing RAW. I agree with the author... it is THE BEST RAW processor available. Keep in mind before you shell out 16,000 Yen that this program ONLY processes RAW files. It "develops" your RAW file in Tiff format which you can then further process in your program of choice.

I HIGHLY recommend Silkypix for all the Digies out there snap in RAW. You'll be blown away by it... guaranteed.

Edit? What else.
