Taking a page from regnaD kciN's playbook....
Edited on Tue Jul-18-06 06:14 PM by Blue_In_AK
Water falling over things, Alaska style. HullBoss's mom is here visiting us from Texas, so this morning we went for a little walk to Thunderbird Falls, which is a pretty easy hike, even for an 80-year-old. It was a great opportunity for me to take my own water falling over things shots. Those of you who were around last winter might remember that this was the place that we hiked to when it was 0 degrees with all the snow. It looks a lot different now.

I would have liked to have gotten a shot of the entire falls, but didn't want to kill myself getting to a good vantage point, so instead I have this one of the lower falls.

Oops, I almost forgot for Bvar22...

#1. F29, 1/2 sec, 130 mm
#2. same, 300 mm
#3. F18, 1/5 sec, 160 mm
#4. F16, 1/3 sec, 105 mm

and a little PaintShopping for brightness adjustment and clarity.

1. I love them!
You slowed down that shutter speed perfectly to get that wonderful blur action in the water. Awesome!

3. Wow...
From the looks of the contrast in the first two pics, those were taken in sunlight, which is the time I try to avoid photographing waterfalls, mainly because I can never slow down the shutter speed enough. I don't know how you managed to get down to half-second exposure times in sunlight (five stacked ND filters?), but it certainly worked. Good job!

:applause:

4. Actually, it was mostly overcast

but quite bright because the sun had been shining earlier. Shortly after this it started raining, so I had to tuck the camera up under my shirt and high-tail it back to the truck (about a mile). I did have on "just one" polarizing filter.

ed. I should add that the "fade correction" and "clarify" features of PaintShopX helped to define the waterfall, but actually it didn't look too bad on the original shots. I was pretty pleased with myself since this was my first try. You inspired me.
