I mean this question in the nicest way possible, but...
Does anyone know of any more active photography boards? I'm currently a registered member of clubsnap.com, but it's based in the far east, and while that's not necessarily a bad thing, I'm looking for more continental sites/clubs...

So, Got Link?

1. A couple that I hit
I have a couple Nikons so I go here a lot. http://nikonians.org/

I've learned a whole lot about Photoshop and image restoration at RetouchPro.com. I've been going there for a long time but just registered tonight.

Those are the only 2 that I visit frequently. Between DU and my own message board my online time is booked up. :-)

2. Oh yeah, about your sig...
What's up with Maxtor hard drives? I have a Seagate in my computer but I've started piecing a new system together. A new HD will probably be one of the last parts I buy since I still have plenty of space on this one. Just curious.

3. Maxtor will break your heart
it will eat your data, corrupt your life, and laugh while it "recovers" your stuff after each reboot - but only in name. Meaning at least you know what will never open again, sometimes.

Maxtor is the shittiest computer shit ever.

4. no kidding
I've been a maxtor victim both at work and at home - never again, not while I have control over purchasing decisions.

5. Now, I know someone is eventually going to say "Well, you should
have backed everything up". Well, I didn't, it died so f*cking fast I hadn't even considered making backups yet. I've got a pair of WD drives in my computer that have lasted a decade and are still running strong. I knew in my gut that despite the price, I was taking a gamble with a Maxtor. I'm listening to my gut with both ears next time.

Since installing it, I've lost over 1,500 unreplaceable photos (and GOOD ONES! :argh: ) , enough music to feed a party for a week, mail backups, my tax records, etc etc etc.

So I'm doing what I can to spread the word, because they don't deserve any business until they get their shit together.

WESTERN DIGITAL ALL THE WAY!

8. It's a really good website
Not only for sharing photos, but for the forums. You can ask any type of question about any component of photography, whether it be techique or equipment, and it gets answered pretty quickly.

Membership is free, but I pay 25 bucks a year to have unlimited space for a permanent portfolio. Otherwise, you'll only be allowed to post a few photos, and not get them critiqued as often.

Here is my portfolio.

If a cop is frisking you, do not elbow him in the stomach. The odds are against you.
