here http://northernvisions.smugmug.com/gallery/1918508/1/97023256I haven't had time to caption anything, but "a picture's worth a thousand words." Let me know if the slide show runs okay for you. I've been having a little trouble with it hanging up here. If you go to the top and click the forward button, it will move you along if you run into the same issue.

1. Get yourself a tee-shirt with this printed on it: |

"I went to Denali and all I got was 57 great photographs". Too wonderful, Blue.
And the slide show worked fine for me.

2. Wow, thanks Blue for sharing the Northern Frontier |

with us...awesome photos. I esp. like the ram on the rock, the wild blueberry bush, and the photos of the mountains with snow and lake reflection.

I had some problems with the slide show, it kept freezing up, but I just ended up shuffling through the pictures manually and it all worked out.
I especially loved the shots with the baby dall sheep, too cute!
For those of you that don't know, seeing Denali on a clear day is basically nearly impossible. I lived in AK for 17 years and only saw the top of Denali once or twice because it is always covered in clouds. These are so great! Congratulations and I hope you win the "lottery" again next year!!

What you need to do if the slide show freezes up is go to the top left corner, click it so that the little menu bar comes across the top, and then hit the forward button. I'm not sure why it's hanging up, but that'll get you over the stoppage.
Yes, I couldn't believe our luck that we got a sunny day, especially as cloudy and rainy as it's been this summer. I guess we must be living right. :) Today it's raining again.

I think maybe it "hangs up" because it is loading in your original files.

When things started getting really incredible for me was late in the afternoon with those amazing shadows. The colors just popped. I felt sorry for poor HullBoss who had been driving since 4:30 in the morning and since 9:30 or so had been on this long winding dirt road where you had to pull over to the side for every oncoming vehicle. I felt sorry -- but not sorry enough to prevent me from begging him to stop about every 100 feet or so for another shot. I could have spent weeks in there taking pictures.

7. HullBoss is definitely a keeper |
|
I see many places where you could have just hung out for hours but I think you said you could not leave the road?

8. You can leave the road in some places |

but not all. Where the wildlife habitat is particularly critical, they don't want people risking their lives, and signs are posted telling you to stay on the road. I believe I've heard that they do have special permits for backcountry hikers and whatnot during the regular season, but you have to plan well in advance, and those certain areas are still restricted.
We were thinking if we win the lottery again next year, and if we luck out and get good weather again, that we'll just drive in partway, park at one of the small tent campgrounds, and just spend the day exploring a more limited area. There was just so much to see there, it was almost overwhelming. Now that we've got the big picture, next time we can go for the "up close and personal."

out a wall to say, WOW, just wow. I went through the pics for my break and they are beautiful, magnificent, gorgeous and every other word you can think of along those line. Now back to work.

11. Well the whole wall isn't out |
|
yet but part of it is. Appliances arrived and are sitting in the middle of the living room. Finally stopping for the night and going to bed. Give Hullboss a hug from me, and a back rub from you. Unfortunately both of us here hurt to much to give each other one. I may not be here again until Monday for more than a second or two. Getting things done though.:)

When I had the good fortune to visit Denali, the place I stayed had large photos by Jimmy Johnson displayed in the lobby (for sale). Your next step is to begin exploring marketing outlets. Maybe just postcard shops as a start, or small galleries in Anchorage or in the shops at the entrance to the park.

16. "Awesome" is not a word I use too often |
|
but those pictures really are awesome, in the sense of being awe inspiring and extremely impressive. I especially liked the one on the first page with the round cloud hovering above, and also the nearly black & white photo on page 4.

I'm especially fond of the ones with lenticular clouds on pages 3 and 4. I've recently become a big fan of the work of Galen Rowell, and those photos look like the sort of images he might have taken.

Love the Dall sheep photos! After all these years, Denali and the park are still imprinted upon me. Your pictures make me long for another summer there.
Is that the Nenana in some of your photos?
You did well. The photos are beautiful. :applause:
