#2 Son's First Gallery showing - The Pix
Edited on Mon Nov-13-06 10:18 PM by ConsAreLiars
A while back I mentioned that the Whole Foods store he works at has a gallery to show off employees' artwork, and he was asked to show his photos. It seems he has now sold "several."

He finally sent me copies -->

#1 sagebrush mariposa

#2 iris missouriensis

#3 moonflower and moth

#4 magenta paintbrush

#5 rainbow over niwot

1. Damn. I can see why he's sold "several"
Niwot was once one of our fave lazy Sunday hangin' places. Like everything... it's changed. There was this place that had the BEST Chocolate Peanut Butter pie but it's gone, like everything that once made Niwot such a kewl place.

I'd think about buying that 2nd one. Very nice.

I remember the other pics you posted over a year ago. Is this the same son? You must be very proud.

2. Same son. And very proud of both kids.
Somehow both managed to pick up the best of both parents (mostly from their mother), and avoid or at least detoxify) the worst. And go beyond both of us. A few other "beings" I have been associated with have also done good -- a lefty bookstore and a lefty print shop and even a compassionate pit bull who helped many of society's outcasts find some peace. Measuring is hard, but knowing there are a few plusses in the equation is worth something. Legacy and such.

Son #2 (like #1) is a real treasure. Call me lucky.

3. Luck Has Little To Do With It
Hard Work, long hours, much gnashing of teeth and alot of angst ...Parents deserve credit when kids grow into great adults.
Consider yourself credited.

His work is brilliant- the iris shot is utterly amaxing.....

8. hopeful, alive, interesting
The flowers are very beautiful and not cliche. They are all photographed at the height of flawless perfection.

The rainbow tree is bright and hopeful.

9. He has the kind of connection to plant life that many of us have to
our family, or dogs and cats (he has those too), and I think it shows in his photographs. He dropped out of HS because is was useless to him, but later got a GED in order to enroll at a 2-year school teaching herbal medicine. He knows the Latin and common names and medicinal, nutritional and other uses, and the native mythology of every plant he has encountered, and just recently advised my SO (his mother, my ex-wife and one true love) on how to herbally treat (successfully) a stress related digestive disorder. He backpacks for days into wilderness areas just to commune with Gaia. I'm glad to see that his love of nature shows through in his photos.
