Silhouette rejects
Looking at the comments thread, was isjhain who said it was a crap shoot? I'm not sure if that means it's a toss up deciding which photo to pick, or if it means it probably doesn't matter what each of us submits because it's a crap shoot to have non-photographers vote on a best photo. I tend to lean more toward the latter, but maybe that was more true when it was hosted in the Lounge. Time will tell with GD.

So saying... it was a toss-up for me this month. This certainly wasn't my favorite theme ever chosen. But I still had a bunch of shots I could have submitted. These were the others that made my final cut.

Reason to reject: other photos already in the thread with a similar look.

Reason to reject: I think "silhouette" and I think of those black profiles:

In the end, I think these shots just had too much definition for me to truly consider them silhouettes.

Well, that's what was and what might have been!

1. All great shots. I only had one reject:
Misty Morning

I took this shot a few years ago and have always loved it (I actually have a framed print of this shot hanging on my gallery wall in my home). In the end, I passed it up because I wanted to differentiate my photos in some way from the other entries. The nature of the topic this month resulted in most of the entries being very dark. This one was also very dark, and repeated a theme posted by several others. I ended up abandoning this one simply because my other option was much brighter (possibly the brightest photo entered so far).

2. That's really pretty...
I have one similar, but I played with it and lightened it up to bring out the color. I think my original shot was more silhouettey like yours, but the original is stored away on a disk somewhere. This is the one I have saved on PhotoBucket.

3. Ooh, I like this!
And you're right about your other shot being the brightest in the thread! I like it, though. Still, if I had to chose the better shot between the two, the one in this thread would get my vote. I can see why you have it hanging on your wall.

6. Great, now yo've got me second guessing myself.

Ugh, do I keep the bright post up? Or do I resubmit the more classic Misty Morning? I love both photos (the two silhouettes in the submitted photo are my children) and can't decide.

Decisions, decisions.

12. thanks.
I actually forgot about the last photo until I posted this thread after I submitted my entry. And now you and F.Gordon have me second guessing myself that maybe I should have submitted that golden pond with ducks shot. O, well. C'est la vie!

10. That was just an amazing day to take photos.
Here are a few more from that same day:

So I really like that golden pond shot, but as I said in this OP, I felt like there were other shots in the thread that were too similar by the time I was able to submit.
