Topic: RUST
Edited on Mon Apr-25-05 09:16 PM by RetroLounge
This old caboose has seen better days, that's for sure. I saw it in the local yard and had to stop for a shot. It was quite a distance and I had to use the Fuji's zoom to get it. Can't jusat walk into train yards anymore. Could it get any MORE rusty. I took this at dusk and had to lighten it a bit.

Gat any pictures of old rusty things? Post them here...

2. Construction roller
Don't know the technical name of this thing but it's been sitting in the field next to work for about 6 years now. These were taken 2 years ago, they've extended the parking lot right up to it so it's not very photogenic anymore.

12. I think like the second photo best.
I love walking along paths and seeing flower fields interrupted by rusting machinery. It's like seeing dinosaur bones. It's a testament to the tenacity of nature.

13. Where was that taken?
I had a boyfriend a long time ago who collected scrap metal (he was a welder). I imagine if he owns a house this is what his side yard looks like.

10. Nice, RL.
I have a thing for trains, but don't have many photos for some reason.

But of course I also have a thing for rust. These were taken at a junk pile I found in the middle of a national forest.

Presto!

Mary Ellen
a cup to a cup

The Mary Ellen background is an old milk truck, circa 1935 I'd guess. This was taken in very low light. It was drizzly and under trees. I remember it was too dark for me to hand hold and use natural light. I used a tripod and thnk it was probably something like an f/5.6 or f/4.0 and a shutter speed anywhere from 1/20 to 1/45.

I'm trying to reconstruct based on the automatic settings on my camera for all you photo tech geeks. :silly:

16. I often wonder if the owner of THIS was very serious about RECYCLING...
...or just insane:

It was after dark, so I needed a 1/4sec exposure @ f6 or so...got a nice effect from the moving cars in the backround.
