Local Restaurant Creates McPalin Sandwich - rofl
This is too funny -- I posted in the Lounge and GD, but I wanted to make sure you guys saw this. I wish the video was included because it was hilarious, but the printed words and pictures are pretty good too.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska-- A local restaurant is incorporating politics into its menu.

Lion's Den restaurant in midtown Anchorage has created its own specialty called the McPalin grilled pig sandwich.

Lion's Den owner Dale Keefe says normally he keeps politics out of work conversation.

But when he was making sandwiches with his crew last week, the big top news story was Barack Obama's comment, "You know, you can put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig."

Obama's comment began Keefe's political food creation.

"I just kept thinking about that news story when I was making sandwiches and I just kind of had an epiphany," Keefe said.

The McPalin sandwich has grilled pork tenderloin on it with caramelized apples, red onions, melted cheddar cheese, and crisp bacon.

Most food creators add some type of garnish such as parsley or fruit to top off their dish, but Keefe decided to do something a little more personal.

The sandwich is served with a side of lipstick and fries.

The McPalin grilled pig sandwich runs for about $13, and has been selling out.

I'll forward it to my cousin who sent me some garbage about how Alaskans just love Palin. Apparently, that is just not the case.

3. No, it really isn't the case,
and our "love" for her is diminishing by the minute. "Bipartisan Sarah," the one who used to be our governor, was okay, but this "VP candidate Sarah" is a whole different story. Check out this editorial in this morning's Anchorage Daily News http://www.adn.com/opinion/view/story/531725.html and the comments. While Sarah still has some supporters, they're starting to drop like flies.

9. Has said "Alaskan bush pilot" been watching
Sarah's performance lately? A lot of us would have given her a glowing review - or at least a somewhat warm one - prior to August 29. She has completely wigged out since McCain picked her. We hardly recognize her.

8. Glad you liked it, Jhain.
:) You know what's really great about this? The anchor, Jason Moore (the guy sitting on the left at the news desk) was contacted at home a few nights ago by Meg Stapleton, formerly a co-worker of his who is now a "McCain/Palin spokesperson," and pressured about a report he had done that was contradictory to their party line. The next day -- this video. It's kind of like a very subtle (or not-so-subtle) "fuck you" to the campaign. I just love it.

McCain Press Aide Calls Alaska Reporter At Home To Complain About Unfavorable Coverage
By Zachary Roth - September 18, 2008, 6:03PM
Here's a little more evidence that the McCain-Palin campaign is playing the hardest of hardball on Trooper-Gate -- especially in regard to press relations.

Jason Moore, a reporter with Anchorage-based KTUU-TV, just confirmed to TPMmuckraker that Megan Stapleton, a spokeswoman for the McCain-Palin campaign in Alaska, called his home to complain about one of Moore's news reports, and accused Moore of calling Stapleton and another McCain staffer liars.

Moore's report looked at the McCain-Palin campaign's "Truth Squad," an aggressive Alaska-based public relations campaign that's being led by Stapleton and former federal prosecutor Ed O'Callaghan and is designed to help thwart the Trooper-Gate investigation.

Moore reported that the Truth Squad was not always entirely truthful itself. He noted that Stapleton had said in a Friday press conference that it was Hollis French, the Democrat overseeing the investigation, who had pulled one name, that of former Palin chief of staff Mike Tibbles, off the list of witnesses to receive subpoenas. Stapleton had pointed to this as an inappropriate political maneuver by French.

But in fact, Moore reported, it was GOP Rep. Jay Ramras, a McCain supporter, who took Tibbles' name off the list. Moore quoted Ramras saying so.

Stapleton and O'Callaghan have another "Truth Squad" press conference scheduled for 7pm EST tonight.

Moore told TPMmuckraker that he and Stapleton -- who was a press aide to Palin before eventually moving over to the McCain campaign -- used to work together as co-anchors on KTUU. "We're friends," he said.

When Stapleton called his home, said Moore, she reached Moore's wife, and immediately told her: "Your husband just called two Hoyas liars." Stapleton, O'Callaghan, and Moore's wife all attended Georgetown University, whose mascot is the Hoyas.

Moore added that Stapleton had also called the news director of KTUU to complain.

Asked whether he and Stapleton really remained friends, Moore allowed: "It hasn't been too friendly this week."

7. It should go well with the McCain sandwich...
...a full pound of baloney with lots of extremely aged cheese. On white bread, of course. Served with a shot of Geritol and a Bud.
