First Presbyterian Church - I'm not making any kind of statement here. I just like the way this looked.

Delegates from towns and villages all around the state participated in the festivities, including Santa Claus from North Pole, near Fairbanks.

The flame is lit by senior statesperson Arliss Sturgelewski http://www.adn.com/opinion/view/story/163343.html and a young friend. I believe that may be the guv there in the red scarf. She said a few words which I ignored.

Anchorage Chapter of the Sweet Adelines "getting down."

The New Archangel Russian dancers from Sitka http://www.newarchangeldancers.com/

A walk through the park between venues.

Native Alaska singing group Pamyua. http://tribalfunk.wordpress.com/biography/ I really enjoy these guys -- they make some very unusual music.

Some Native dancing to go with the music. The song was about a wolf, and we all got to howl. The kids loved it.

that we couldn't even begin to check them all out. It really was a great party, and I'm glad we went. The best part was everything was FREE.
