Georgia sunrise with crescent Moon
Edited on Wed Jan-21-09 08:19 AM by Fumesucker
I captured this image this morning 1-21-09 with my Lumix FX07, used Neat Image to denoise it and Irfanview to adjust brightness, contrast and resize..

1. Beautiful picture
I love the symbolism of these dawn pictures, the day after the Inauguration. Thanks for posting.

It's a new day!

6. Exposure was 1/100 at f2.8 and ISO 100
I had to underexpose by two stops to keep the crescent Moon from becoming bloated since it is nearly a point source much brighter than the surrounding sky. Brightening the image with Irfanview compensated for the underexposure to a big extent although the actual scene was a bit brighter than the resulting final image.

35mm equivalent focal length was 28mm, one of the reasons I chose the Lumix FX07 is because it has a wider angle lens than the average point and shoot compact.

7. Cool image..
I actually saw the "green flash" once when I was working on an offshore oil rig back in the early eighties, didn't have a camera on me, more's the pity.

Here's a sunset image I got a couple of days ago, 28mm efl, 1 second at IS0 100, handheld with my hands braced on top of the car. The "star" in the image is Venus..
