Synchronized
As I was walking home past the pool the other evening, I heard music and ran up the aquatic centre stairs to find the synchronized swim team practicing. Who can pass up a chance like that?

I'm going to try to remember to include the exif data from now on so people can give better critiques. Suggestions/comments welcome as always.

1. Kicking for critiques
Come on, rip it to shreds. You know you want to!

2. First one is a nice snap, I think
Second one is something altogether different, a photo that makes the viewer wonder, and ponder.

3. OK, then. :)
My first thought was that they seemed a little gray/dull. Not as far as content goes, but as far as light goes.

What was the light conditions?

And why the b&w?

4. Here are the originals
The light was pretty crappy at the time, as you can see. It was about 7pm and the sun was setting rapidly, and in totally the wrong position to get decent lighting from my vantage point. I lightened the b&w copies a bit to compensate. Now that I know they practice there, I might try again under better conditions. I went b&w because I didn't like the mottled blue reflections from the water. If I were better at processing, I'd adjust the curves or something but it just looked even worse when I tried. Also, I'm trying to get away from my reliance on colour and instead to find the forms underneath.

6. Thats what I do too. :)
Converting to black and white can many times upgrade a less than perfect picture a few notches. :)

In a perfect world it should be done to remove the distraction of color from the attention to the subject of the foto.

But as you experienced, the sun is not always where we need it. And don't get me started on clouds. :)
