Smiling dove - ravenous Robin- and the Camel of Camel City Fame - all in my yard
IMG]

I was clueless what that Robin was up to - and it's not a great picture, but it's my one and only one of a Robin so far. Before I uploaded it you could see the legs of the critter it was devouring

Winston-Salem is also called Camel city. The blacksmith, remember his photo from the "Gates and Doors" contest, brought that to me one day to add more stuff in my yard. From the link to historic places in my city, my neighborhood is on it.

1. That second bird isn't a robin
It's a rufus sided towhee.

2. Is you cussin' me? Is that special? It was not a skittish bird at all. It was so
busy eating all the legs on that poor prey, maybe that's why it did not care I was around.
I have a suspicion that bird chasing will wear me out, so I'll go back to other photos, but it was a lot of fun trying.

3. That's the beauty of a lens like Maestro has
You don't have to chase the birds. You just zoom them in to you. I like those little rufus sided towhees. You will learn to recognize their rustlings in the ground leaves. They are always digging up little tidbits from beneath a pile of leaves.

5. I'm always happy to see a Rufus Sided Towhee in my yard.
It's getting time for the Warblers. They appear just as the leaves start forming in the tall trees.

I want to see a Black and White Warbler and the Ruby Crowned Kinglet again.

6. Explain to me how you can hold these beauties, and come to think of it,
you can't and also take the picture.
So. How does this happen? Ever curious...

7. Most likely it was people doing research of songbirds. Holding them
like that keeps them from flailing around.
