Two other portraits
Edited on Wed Jun-17-09 09:27 PM by Mz Pip
I don't usually take pictures of people so this contest was a real challenge for me. I like these two, neither of which made my cut.

A Jazz singer

Train engineer on the Skagway Railroad.

1. Here's what I think: you just might want to take more pictures of people. Because
these, just like your entry photo, simply pop right into my consciousness, and they emote with the spirit of what they depict.
They are, all 3, in your face real and fascinating.

You are a "shero" to me with your ability and versatility.

2. I like them both
I think we may be able to see the singer's wisdom teeth, or at least upper molars. That is too cool!! Was she a good singer?

I love the blue collar type person, taken outdoors--if I take pictures of people, and I generally don't, that is my favorite type, and the type I entered. I do have to say that in both the picture I entered and in your picture, the sun and shadow presents a challenge!! Hip Hip Hooray for a few bright but cloudy days.

3. Are you sure she wasn't singing gospel?!
She looks like she's in thrall to the spirit there. I love that shot.

4. Not Gospel
Don't remember the song she was singing - some big band jazz number, definitely not Gospel.

The reason I didn't enter it in the contest was precisely because of the above comment. I could see her back molars. I wasn't sure that was a good thing.

5. Her back molars are in much better shape than mine, at least,
though I suppose that's not a very objective standard to go by.

Still a really fine shot.
