Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness
Edited on Fri Aug-07-09 09:38 PM by BrightKnight

Big Knife Portage (92 rod) - Looking back toward Knife Lake from the Ontario side. The right side of the image is Minnesota. This is part of the Border Route and it probably predates the fur trade in the 18th century.

Bonnie Lake in the rain

Missionary lake

This is Boot Lake from the 220 rod portage to Ensign Lake.

Trader Lake portage (30 rod)

late arrival - Birch Lake

Last light from Birch Lake - I took this from the Minnesota side. The opposite side of the lake is Quetico in Ontario.

3. I am actually a wimp about my camera. - Stylus Tough
Edited on Fri Aug-07-09 10:54 PM by BrightKnight
I missed 99% of the shots on this trip because it was in a hard Pelican dry case and in a dry bag securely tied to my canoe any time I was on the water.

The Pelican case is sitting on the bottom of the canoe on dry land:

I am going to buy an Olympus Sylus Tough when I can scrape the dough together. They are rugged and waterproof. It is not a high end DSLR with expensive glass but it will not have to stay buried in a dry bag all of the time. http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/product.asp?product=1448

4. What a lovely, serene place!
We love to canoe and haven't done it in sooooo long. This makes me want to get it out and load it on top of the truck and go. Love those first two shots the most. Just takes me there.

:hi:

6. I have wanted to go there my entire life.
My dad told me stories of it when I was a kid.

You pictures make me long for it even more. Thanks for the shots! I'll get there one day!
