newbie lurker taking the plunge
Not yet confident enough to post overtly. Missed the last theme of up...but I'm feeling like you guys will offer some good feedback :)

From the outside, this sculpture looks like a conglomeration of poles, post and cable wires. I wish I had take a pic of the outside for comparison. From the inside of the sculpture looking up, something else emerges. Urban legend is that during WWII, the Germans commissioned an artist to make a sculpture. They did not know the artist was a Jew.

This is fantastic shot.
As a former long-time lurker myself, I definitely agree with Mira that we need to see more of your stuff. As for the content, you have two weeks to submissions for the next one. I'm hoping to see an entry from you when the submission thread goes up. I think that one of the best things about the contests is that it gives me incentive to go out and take photos - even if not all of them are related to the theme. Also, since you have now have at least one photo posted, you shouldn't be hesitant to post more.

7. the HEXAGRAM
This is a great pic, by the way. I'd love to see the regular (not up) version.

The hexagram has a lot of power as a symbol. It is the basis of the Pennsylvania Dutch symbols on barns to keep negative energy away, for instance. Also keep in mind that it is also an important symbol in eastern Europe. Edward Leedskalnin even carved it into Coral Castle in Homestead, Florida

8. Washington DC

A friend took me to the Hirschhorn Museum on the Smithsonian campus. She is the one that told me about the urban legend...and about the view from inside. On further research, and thanks to questions that pushed me to check things out a little further, I find that it is indeed an urban legend. Thank you so much for the kind and encouraging words.

I was able to find links to the pics of the needle tower from the outside, however I cannot currently access my photobucket account right now. But here is the link
http://www.bluffton.edu/~sullivanm/hirshhorn/hirshhorn7.html

Just scroll down to the needle tower.

9. If that legend is true
the sculptor really pulled a fast one on the Germans. I love how all the seemingly random angles culminate in a Star of David at the top.

You shot captures that perfectly.
