It's been a while, so once more with feeling...
Lake Thun in Switzerland, the latest haunt of my friends back from Italy. Their return date is Halloween, so this may be the last shots. Thanks guys for encouraging me enough to keep posting my favorites. I bet most of us wish we could travel Europe for 3 months and take pictures.
Sent as usual by blackberry.

The Lake is lake THUN.
The Peak is THE EIGER in the alps.

2. These really take me there
And I really want to go!!

Seriously, I could use a shot of scenic like this! The last one with the light, I love.

And, THE EIGER, of course. Not to mention a fall hillside.....

Thanks for posting.

Beautiful pics... your friends are luckeeeee!

Interlaken is at the very top of my list of must visit places if I ever make it over to Europe.

4. Thank you and your friends for sharing their experiences with us.

I think one of the things I like best about the images is their "flatness." Not sure if that word conveys what I mean, but they are not hyped up super HDR plastic-vivid exaggerations that make it into coffee table books and calendars. They are more like memories, a bit hazy, not perfectly well defined with every detail sharp and clear, but unforgettable.

Thank your friends for me. I've been to a few of those places, or places that resonate with them, and they revived a few memories of my own.

(edit because I typed something)

7. Flatness... (This comment is not about those jugs...)
I really enjoy your photography. But, time for some real honesty.

I simply love your descriptions of photographs. It doesn't seem to matter whose images either, yours, mine, the neighbors, a new comer or your oldest friend. The descriptions are dead on, and often in some of the cutest of quaint ways of saying it too!

For that group of images your "flatness" comment is dead on for all of them. They aren't postcard or National Geographic style. They're "picture book" style. Rather than take pictures of the colors of their clothes, you've taken a picture of their soul, as the saying goes except in this case "they" are landscapes.

You've captured the soul of each place. Those are the right pictures to show school children in a geography class. "This is what it's like there..."

5. Oh, my. I love Lake Thun. I swam there over Bastille Day weekend.
Cooooold water but wonderful. The 'character' of these photos is terrific.

8. Thanks everyone. You have been good sports, and it was
a long visual trek we got to take part in. The impressionistic flat quality, making them look like paintings, and your encouragement have made me keep posting them.
