a rare event
Last really measurable snow in these parts was 10 years ago or so.

1. I suspect the kids are loving it
I hope you'll post some pictures of the swamp (for lack of a better name)

PLEASE

or at least an alligator with snow on its head.

3. I hope the snow
doesn't melt before you get some shots of the swamp. Those would be really interesting to see.

6. Well, I have to admit to a bit of amusement up here,
but still I understand that this is quite an event for the southern folk. The amounts that have fallen in DC are extreme even for Anchorage norms, so I can imagine it's pretty terrible without the resources to cope with it. We just take it all for granted. The Thompson Pass outside of Valdez, Alaska, averages about 600 inches of snow a season. That's 50 feet. Somehow our state road crews manage to keep that pass open most of the winter. I don't know how they do it.

8. That is really, really beautiful.
I'm from Ohio, too, originally. Are you old enough to remember the blizzard of 1950?
