HDR Experiment: Golden Gate Bridge
I've been playing with HDR images, using my camera's exposure bracketing feature along with Photomatix to blend the images. I'm still nowhere near where I need to be, but I'm beginning to learn. I took these pictures Friday evening after work.

1. Quite lovely. I prefer the more moderate feel of the first one. However, the
second one has beautiful colors, and it works well for a night scene - though I probably wouldn't be that fond of the level of processing in a daytime scene.

4. The second one is seductive.
HDR seems to be getting overused all over the internet these days, but that's an example of it being perfectly matched to the subject and done with just the right amount of restraint and good taste to really turn the photo into a high-impact image. The colors are absolutely superb. Really, really marvelous.

5. don't shortchange yourself
these are better than 99% of the pics I've seen that are labled as "HDR".

My only comment is that, imo, the foreground land in the first picture is to light, especially since it doesn't really have anything going on in that area to add much to the picture.

The second pic, even though it definitely looks un-natural in that foreground area, is teh awesome. Sometimes "effects" work and this is one of those times.

7. Thanks, everyone
I appreciate the compliments and the critiques. I'll keep working at this--call it my photography elective course for the semester.
