Technically blah...but still wanted to share my awwwww moment

Momma duck.....in camo. This is her second year nesting in our yard. Last year I got pics of the eggs. This year I was never able to catch her away from the nest.



You feed 'em, clothe 'em (well, keep the dogs and magpies away), and one day they just don't need you any more *sniff*. Just like *that* they walk off to the pond and my stint at grandmothering is already over. Seriously, they hatched this morning and they are already gone. Last year I missed the ducklings, I thought something horrid had befallen them. This year I became a grandma...for one day.
