The last of the camping pictures
Edited on Mon Aug-15-05 02:05 PM by Blue_In_AK
These are a few of the photos from the drive back to Anchorage from Valdez.

These were taken looking two different directions from Thompson Pass on the Richardson Highway. This area gets an incredible amount of snowfall in the winter, averaging over 500 inches per year (41 feet) and is frequently closed until it can be plowed out. This is a famous world-class snowboarding area.

This is Worthington Glacier, also in the Thompson Pass area. Notice the little people on the rock and climbing on the glacier.

This is the lake at the base of Worthington Glacier

This is Matanuska Glacier northeast of Anchorage

The last leg of our trip was over our old favorite, Hatcher Pass (where the Independence Mine photos were taken a couple months ago). This is Summit Lake at - surprise! - the summit.

On the way down we stopped for about 15 minutes and picked these (out-of-focus) wild blueberries, food from the gods for bears and humans.

1. I really like the "lake at base of Worthington Glacier"...
...but can't compare it to the others because, thanks to my dial-up connection, the page stops loading with only about half the photos (that's half the total photos and/or half of each photo) loaded. :grr:

P.S.: Now, it's finally loading the others. Hard to choose a favorite, but the shot of Worthington Glacier itself is pretty spectacular.

2. Thanks. Have you been up here at all?
Worthington Glacier is cool because it's right on the highway, no struggle at all to get there. I forget about you people with dial-up connections. In the future I'll just try to post a couple at a time, or make my images smaller. Sorry about that...

3. You really should do a book
Seriously. If just for yourself... a small publisher... or a "tourist guide".... or submit some of your work to an Alaska state or Parks site.

I've been reading/learnin' how to take better nature/scenic photos but I've also been using your excellent shots as "study" material. The way you frame, overall composition.....
