Painting with automobile lights...
So, last Friday night, I was up at Tiger Mountain summit, hoping to get some time-lapse photos of the Persid meteor shower. Only problem: no meteors. (Well, two of them over the course of an hour...scarcely photo-worthy.) So, taking note of the cars and trucks passing by on Highway 18, I decided to follow the lead of one of the other DU photographers (can't remember who right now, but their shots of Vegas were outstanding) and "paint with light" -- in this case, taking eight-second-long exposures of vehicles passing by, while moving my camera to paint an image on the frame. Here are a few of the results:

I hope these aren't too hard on dial-up bandwidth, but how could I commemorate my 6,000th DU post except with a new photo thread?

5. It was a digital camera...
...specifically, a Nikon 5700.

I'm never sure of the names of the annual meteor showers, but thought the local paper had called it the Persid.

3. 2, 4, or 6 Can't decide which is my fave
Definitely way better than that Vegas crap that someone posted. ;-)

Thanks for sharing these. It shows that a Camera can also produce ART.

6000 posts? Congrats, I guess. I'm always amazed how quickly people rack up post counts. You are a little more "normal". The ones that break 10,000 in less than 6 months...don't get it. I've been here 3 years and have only recently broken 2000.

4. I THOUGHT you may have posted the original "painting with light"...
...but I couldn't remember if you had been in Vegas. They were great, BTW.
