I'm three score and never owned a camera
(except there might be one, incidentally on my cell phone), so I probably have no idea what I'm talking about, but it seems to me, you'd have to be pretty on top of it to capture this sequence...

1. I saw that in the Lounge!
Amazing shots! The second and third photos deserve journalism awards.

2. Most of that is being in the right place at the right time.
However, if you do not know how to use the equipment you have, being there will not help much.

3. Yeah, but when has that not been the case in all
award-winning documentary photos? Doesn't diminish the amazingness of the photos in the least!

4. That is what is called a "happy accident."
Edited on Sat Jul-24-10 03:12 AM by BrightKnight
The photographer pressed the fire button and let the camera run on full auto. It is a very good use of what we called a motor drive in film cameras. The photographer probably did a good job working with what he had in post production. I doubt that the framing was that good in the camera.

Recognizing and making the most of happy accidents is an important part of the creative process.

7. Actually, with HD video cameras, shots like this will probably become a dime-a-dozen
in the near future.
