Some pictures from our fishing trip yesterday
My brother lives in Homer, which is about 225 miles south of here on Kachemak Bay, and he has a boat. :) Right now, the sockeye salmon are returning to China Poot Creek across the bay, and there are thousands of them, which, as residents, we're allowed to scoop right out of the river with a net, six a day per licensed fisherperson.

So here are a few shots from our adventure.

High tide was at 5:00 a.m., so here we are at the Homer harbor at 4:00. We had planned to get up at 3:30, but my husband woke up an hour earlier, read his watch wrong and woke me up, so we were rather bleary-eyed at this point

Here is my husband with his net at the rapids where the fish congregate.

I didn't feel steady enough with my weak knee and my expensive camera to go so far up since the rocks were jagged and slippery, so I stayed downstream a bit and took some shots. This is looking back toward the mouth of the creek.

My brother's boat tied up at the mouth.

And the haul, only an hour or so later -- 30 nice bright red salmon. We took home 21 and my brother kept 9 since they can run over there any time they want. My brother fileted them out, and my sister-in-law and I vacuum-sealed them when we got back to their house, so when we got home this afternoon, all I had to do was stick them in the freezer. These are going to taste SO GOOD this winter.

This is a big cooler, by the way. The fish were each about 20-22 inches long.

I took quite a few pictures, so I'll probably be posting several at my website as soon as I have a chance to sort them out. It was absolutely beautiful down there. I'll let you all know when I get them up, so if you want to check them out you can.

1. Fishing in Alaska.
Could life get any better?

Although I think all of your photos are great, your first shot is amazing. The reflection of the cloud and lamp post appears to surround the marina, making for a nice composition.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the cooler of fish. Just as an fyi - I love to eat fish, and hmmmmm . . . am not too bad of a cook either! ;-)

2. Wow
I love your first picture, the colors are beautiful. Fishing is wonderful but I'm glad you didn't wade out there. Last time I went fly fishing
I slipped on a mossy rock and went all the way under.....brrrrrr I learned my lesson !

3. Oh, Blue - what an adventure you had
and you took us with you. I look forward to seeing more on your website. The BLUE in the first picture is iridescent. I'm glad you were extra careful in the river. Last time I was in one like it my friend slipped and fell and had a broken hand. An awful thing to happen and to watch happen...
The fish look great.
I'll be over for dinner.
Long time no Aiman and Sebastian photos!
I hope your grandsons are well and happy.

4. I think FedEx could get one of those salmon
to me really fast. Beautiful low kith shots. And I think we have all learned at one time or another tromping around in a stream with a camera is a no, no. So glad you didn't.

5. I have a friend that lives and owns a commercial fishing boat in Homer

He's invited us up a couple of times, but I watch Deadliest Catch....I've declined. However, your kind of fishing would be awesome!!!

BTW we haven't really talked much lately since he told me of his Palin adoration political views, and his overwhelming hate for anything Islam...I just don' see him in the same light anymore. He sat on the City Council in Homer for a while...wonder how he came across to the public?

6. My brother has been living down there for several years,
so if you want to PM me your ex-friend's name, I can find out for you.

As for Deadliest Catch, they're out in Bristol Bay and the Bering Sea which is a much more inhospitable area. Here in Kachemak Bay it gets a little rough sometimes in the afternoon when the wind comes up, but nothing at all like those crabbers have to deal with.

That would be a dream trip for me! I love all the photos.
