Sold my lens on eBay, got a great price! Question, is the Canon 50D worth it? |
|
I have a 20D, and I am thinking of selling that and upgrading. I don't even know what number D Canon is up to these days, LOL.

I looked at the 7D and, since I'm not interested in video, couldn't justify the additional expense. If cost isn't a big issue, though, the 7D does have advantages, even in still photography. Since you aren't looking at the 5D Mk. II, I'm guessing that cost does enter into the equation, however,

4. Honestly, I just don't use my camera that much |
|
to justify something really expensive. Actually I've been enjoying my new Sony Cybershot 14.4 lately.

The Canon 50D is a nice camera and takes excellent pictures. It is great for portraits, landscapes and anything that does not move too fast. A 7D would be better suited if you were interested in shooting birds in flight, sports, children running wild or video. The Canon 7D shots very good high def video.
The rumor mill says that Canon may be releasing a new camera this month that is a cross between the 50D and the 7D. You might wish to wait and see what develops.
Enjoy whatever you buy and keep sharing with us here.

Forgot to mention that the 50D does not take good pictures with poorer quality lenses. If you continue to use lenses like the Canon 70-200 f2.8 then a 50D should give excellent results.

7. You may as well get the 7D. |
|
I have both and I use the 7D much more often.
