4 Portraits
I got the 50 mm F 1.8 lens today, and with the crowd in my house one would think I had lots of subjects, but NO, they were all busy.

So the photos here I took with no experience. I am very happy with the sharpness, and have to get used to the fixed focal length ( is that what it's called?) = I am so used to turning the zoom wheel.

My first one, sitting at the McDonalds where I met with the man who sold it to me, and took his photo of him

The second one, a photo of a campaign poster for the guy who is running against Virginia Foxx - Billy Kennedy. I'm thrilled with how that worked out

The third one, the mother of the young boy star of the movie sitting at my kitchen table. She did not want me to take her picture, but this is what I got

And the last one is NOT with the new lens, it's before I had it. I liked the light on the fully made up old lady star. Hard to believe that is a wig!

1. The shot of the old lady star is particularly fine!
The body language of the woman in the third picture cracks me up! There's not much she can do about the pesky photographer, since she's in your house ! ! :-D

Enjoy your new lens!

2. Ha-ha trusty elf. You are sensitively noticing that she suffered
a moment of attention of the unwanted kind. She and her husband had a new Pentax to take photos of their little boy of whom they are justifiably very proud. So a little camera talk and my new lens allowed that one shot.
I look forward to using it and learning it's strengths and limitations.

3. Love the colors in the first.
Now that you have a prime lens, you become the zoom. You won't miss it. I have a zoom on my P&S, but don't use it much. Mostly I use it in preview to see if the target is sharp.

4. I suspect before too long I'll be very comfortable with it.
For now I'm thrilled that it is so much sharper than my regular lens.

Stand back!!! There is no stopping her now!
I am SO looking forward to what magic you will work with the new set up.

6. So far, I'd say the lens works pretty darn great as a portrait lens.
I can't wait to see what you get with it out in the street.

8. Let me know how it works
I'm seriously looking at a 50MM, F2.0 lens for my camera. Primarily looking for it as a macro lens, but it's supposed to work very well as a low light portrait lens.

10. WHoaaaa. that's a hefty price tag.
Mine must not be in that ballpark, though it's almost the same at 50 mm f 1.8.
The pros here, like yourself, will set me straight if they want to bother.
The man asked for 120 - he has had it for 4 months, used it little, and wants the f 1.4. It was a very good price.

(I tried to get it for 100, but he stayed firm, and when I read from "disgustipated" that it will be sharp, I knew I WANTED it)

Today I was too tired to take a picture.
The film crew pulled out for now, back Sunday and Monday, and they put the whole house back together, following photographs they had taken before they took it apart. Every last knick knack is back in place. It is not the worse for wear, and I had to do nothing but disinfect toilets and bathroom floors.
2-3 rolls of toilet paper in a bathroom twice a day made me think that might be appropriate.

9. Those are really interesting portraits, Mira.
I can feel for the lady who doesn't want her picture taken. I'm the same way. And I get really unhinged when someone doesn't respect my request to abstain.

12. She handled it just fine.
She had been sitting at the kitchen table 10 hours a day with nothing to do except watch the little monitor that showed the crowd in the hall and the kitchen what was going on in the living room which we could not enter.
3rd day of that.
Then I appear with my new lens and show her and am excited.
With her Pentax sitting beside her, she was understanding and said no for our mutual entertainment mostly. You see, my begging and hanging out kept me there for entertainment.

I'll never disrespect your request, dear Hippywife.
Promise.

13. Looks like that lens was a good buy.
And with your talent I can't wait to see your future photos with it. These are terrific portraits even of mom that did not want her photo taken. I hope you are surviving all the commotion and enjoying yourself.

Now to show you that photo I did not take. I grabbed it off someone's facebook when I was looking at their baby's pictures. This little guy is hiding somewhere in MD or PA. I think you will like him as much as I do.

He belongs with your bird feeder, both of which should find their way to my yard. Actually I am thinking I should learn how to weld. Then hit some of these flea markets, junk yard etc around here.

14. You are so making me laugh.
I have assigned the bird feeder to you in my will.
I had a very talented brother who made stuff just like you're thinking of getting a welder for.

Unfortunately I don't have but just a few items he made. Will photograph them soon and post them for you.
