picture from a Z981

981 Sounds like a car, but it's a Kodak

I took this about 40 feet away from inside the house. I enhanced through photoshop.

The camera has a great lens, but is so heavy, I can't hold it and have to use a tripod.

1. That's very good. Female Cardinals are beautiful. You really
captured the subtle colors.

2. thanks to a 14 megapixil lens
it's possible to capture so much. Unfortunately the camera is so heavy I can't hold it and have to use a tripod. I'm thinking of backing down to a 10 or 12 megapixil because they only require 2 batteries.

3. My camera has a 14mp sensor, and is way more than needed for
Posting online or 8x10 prints.

Something like the canon S95 or lumix LX 5 is more than adequate. They are 10mp cameras. They are better in low light than us with 14mp's crammed into a small sensor.

5. I think Manufacturers use MP only as a marketing tool
In my opinion it's a meaningless number.

the mp wars. Right after, Canon went back to the 10mp. Doing that made for better low light performance. Though the raw image is not as big as from my 14mp, the quality is quite good. For the internet, a 5mp is good enough.

I see mp count as a general guideline, not a true gauge of the performance. The 14 mp on the Samsung NX and Sony NEX give much different results at high ISO. The sensor on my G10 is a fraction of the size of the APS-C and does not perform well in low light. It also doesn't deliver the DOF of the APS-C or MFT.

Still, cameras like the Kodak and the Canon G10 deliver good results at low ISO and good light.

4. I had a Datsun Z 981. Sweet Car
Can't believe you took that photo while driving. :D

I can't keep track of all the cameras out there. I looked yours up. Looks impressive. Hope you have tons of wonderful Kodak moments. Have you tried the High ISOs? 6400! Wow! Cameras keep evolving. Enjoy.
