1. I'm going to a Dem meeting anyway.
Here's hoping it's a productive one and not one of those "Let's rant" meetings. I get really sick of those "let's rant," stuff, it's all preaching to the choir if you're just talking to your fellow Dems, you know?

Just made my plans for my August NYC trip! Yippee!

3. First week in August.
Need to get little brother to house-sit! It's for an industry conference. The conference has two keynotes, Clifford Nass (Stanford prof and industry geek) and Rudy Giuliani, and the funny thing is, I'm *way* more stoked about hearing what Nass has to say. :P

Shall I take the KO Baseball Card Trap (tm)?

15. I've got no life after all. I'm here. *sigh*
The Chimp is deluded. Sorely deluded. He is only 10 minutes in, and he has mentioned 9/11 5,000 times, freedom 10,000 times and anything that makes sense NO times.

But then again, you knew that.

Anyway, my evening got shot to hell. I ended up staying late at work because supposedly I had to get something ready to be printed TONIGHT. Most of what I was doing at the end was total grunt-work...boring and tedious, but no one else could do it but me. I was going to go to an event tonight, but I could see there was no hope for it when I was socked in with this.

Then, at 6:30, I was liberated...meeting canceled, printing no longer needed tonight. I can actually finish this thing tomorrow morning when my brain is fresh.

But by that time, I didn't feel like going anywhere. Too mentally exhausted, eyes dead.

Please. If I prove to be so mentally dead that I start posting stuff like "You know, the President is starting to make sense," slap me one.

22. Actually, I would not have been cheered up if I knew KO was on
because that would have made me absolutely CRY with grief.

I was miserable enough--my only comfort was thinking "Well, at least Keith isn't on tonight so I won't miss him." It's probably a sign of my precarious mental state for me to say that I almost wanted to (whisper) thank the Chimp for choosing tonight to blather his propaganda, rather than some other night.

But not really.

14. I could have written this speech for Bush*.
Any of us could have. "We will defend our freedom." Two 9/11 references in 15 seconds. "To defeat them abroad before they attack us at home." "We're advancing freedom in the broader Middle East." "The terrorists cannot stop the advance of freedom." "We cannot forget the lessons of September the 11th." "We have made significant progress." "It's hard work.":eyes::puke::grr:

When Bush* was gearing up for this war, I said to my friend that he was forgetting an important lesson of Vietnam. You cannot enact tax cuts during wartime. And my friend said that there was a more important lesson. You cannot succeed in a war that doesn't have the support of the American public. And my friend is West Point. And Bush* is seriously losing on that front, as well. Jackass!

25. To make it easy for us all, I've quoted the crucial paragraph here.
"Tonight should be interesting. If I were still in college, I'd propose creating a drinking game based on this speech. Drink a beer after every lie. Drink a beer every time Bush says "freedom,' or talks about September 11 as if those attacks had anything to do with Iraq. Drink two beers after every wildly unrealistic assessment that has no basis in fact. Drink a beer and a shot every time he says 'Nukular.' Two beers, a shot and a kick to the head every time he thanks the troops around him for the sacrifices 'we' know must be made. Anyone still standing after ten minutes wins a Kewpie doll."

Man, I think I'm drunk already.

Did you ever listen to Mark Crispin Miller, I think it is? He analyzes the Bushisms. And that's what he said. But Bush* cannot pronounce Abu Ghraib. He's incapable of discussing shame. But he positively waxes eloquent when he's talking about death. Remember the record number of executions when he was governor of Texas. He's a real piece of work.:grr:

but have no idea of what he said. Seems every time he started to make a point lightening would race across the sky with long loud rolling thunder behind it. No rain, just lightening and thunder. Swear someone up there was protecting my ears from the lies so I wouldn't scream at the tv. Not sure how long I am going to try to stay on here because it is still lightening. Might check the thread later. Beautiful storm though.

57. Every moment scripted.
Nothing left to chance.

If he was reading the teleprompter, why did he need the back-pack? Or is it, perhaps, a portable defribulator?

64. Storms finally passed
Edited on Tue Jun-28-05 09:17 PM by CC
though their timing was great. The big guy must really not like the idiot, specially when he is lying.

here is a radar capture during the speech

I am about where the x is.

It was a slow moving violent storm, but beautiful too and we did finally get some rain.

66. Hi neighbor
LOL So maybe the big guy was saving you from losing your temper at the tv too. Glad to see you have your power back. Too hot and sticky to not have power for long.

I think of it as my own personal miracle

Just got back from one of our Let's Take Over Dallas County meetings. It went very well. Glad I missed Shrub. Pfft, who needs to listen to that dreck anyway?!

69. No one in
their right mind as some one tried to tell seito and I with a loud light show. :yoiks:

Good to hear your meeting was productive. I try to convince an Arlington resident to come over to the light on a regular basis. Hasn't worked yet though.

74. don't give up, CC
i have a friend from elementary school who would send me those crazy right-wing emails (ones about john kerry, gore, clinton, the woman in the burqa who yelled at a soldier, etc) & i would patiently explain to her she needed to check out snopes first before she passed that stuff on. this went on every single time she sent me this garbage & i blasted it back to everyone she sent it to. she never checked anything out on snopes.

about a 6 months ago, she emails "well i guess we're just going to have to agree to disagree on this & i won't send you any more political stuff." ok, fine. :) i backed off & left her alone.

something has changed.

today, i get an email from her that she sent blast email back to the person who sent the crap to her. something about denzel washington writing a check so Brooks Army Medical Center in SA could build more Fisher Houses w/the requisite slam at the dems/liberals. but at the top, she told the person who sent it to her that he/she needed to check the stuff out on Snopes first before she passed it along. :wow:

so, it does happen. just be patient. :)

78. I keep on trying
and will never give up. She has learned to not send me emails she hasn't checked out though. And it is fun sending her links to the truth to some of her emails. At least we are still talking, I have seen a few that no longer are. I always argued that I did not want the oil companies in the WH. So it is fun when she complains about the price of gas. I tell her well with the oil companies best buds in power don't look for relief anytime soon.

He'd stop believing that crap about "blackout babies" and such...
