Well, as you probably already know
Peter Jennings has died.

It's gonna be a tough Countdown for Keith to come back on. Probably no jocularity.

Poor guy. He gave it his best. You have to admire that.

1. I know this sounds so silly...
but I'm crying as I type this. He always had such class, and I always believed what he said. He was way too young.

You're right...it's going to be a somber "Countdown" tonight. But ya know what? I have no doubt Keith will ace it.

4. Ya know what it is, Rev?
What's getting me isn't just so much his death...I heard hints today it was coming. It's seeing his colleagues so devastated, especially Diane Sawyer and Charlie Gibson. My heart goes out to them.

It's an end of an era, ya know? The only one that (for me) will be worse is when Walter Cronkite passes. I remember watching "Uncle Walter" with my gramma, and thinking I was the most grown up, special girl in the world. Jennings has that same trust factor that none of the other "major" anchors do. *sigh*

2. Lung cancer goes very fast.
That's what our church leader had, too. He had about 7 months. :(

Rest in peace, Peter, and thank you.

5. Yes heard
and its hard, my "first" news guy crush.(Sorry Keith but you were not the first.)I still picture Peter in some war zone with the wind blowing his hair and plan on keeping that as my memory of him. I not only feel like I grew up with him I did grow up with him on my tv. Now the second media person I grew up with has died of cancer (Lopez was just a few months ago.) I am still in shock though was afraid this was coming. Keith will do him proud on the show Monday.

PS. Hugs Rev on Roo and fixing things. (from another thread) I know how you feel. He is still there with you in spirit.

6. I have no doubt Keith will do him proud.
And if you want proof, just go reread his blog on him. I did, and it breaks my heart.

7. Today's already been moving.
Just woke up and caught the coverage so far. It was almost comical to hear Ted Koppel raving about how handsome he was! (Of all people...Ted. Gotta love him.) He always that had Cary Grant factor....suave, dashing, but always had "it", that likeability factor.

So far, CNN seems to be covering the most. Ironic, eh?

9. Thanks, CC.
Tonight, I threw out his leftover baby food. I couldn't do it until now, but since I was melancholy over Peter Jennings anyways, I went ahead and cried a few tears.

(Thanks for the advice on the baby food. He loved it, and it kept him going as best he could.)

8. GMA this morning...
It's so sad. Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts are losing it. Can't say I blame them.
