KO gets his props in the latest issue of Harper's
A must read. The article was called "None Dare Call it
Stolen."

Miller hammered the press for not covering the fact that
Ohio had thousands of cases of election glitches all of which
favored bush. He did note that only Keith on national television
covered the story.

Fact from the Article:
Democratic areas 250% increase in voter registrations.
Republican areas 25% increase in voter registrations.

Once again where was the rest of media? Are the bought?
Are they scared? Are they lazy?

He pointed out the New York Times was one of the big
ones for calling us "conspiracy nuts."

1. Thanks for posting this, Botany.
As a Keith fan and an Ohioan, I appreciate this.

I still want to believe that someday, Keith is going to be proven right. When I think of the stories I heard alone about things that went kaflooey...

I already bought the magazine, am also from Ohio, and quite interested in our state's election glitches. Am looking forward to the next election in 2006 to see if the glitches will be 'fixed'.

Edited: am also a Keith Olbermann fan! :loveya:

3. In that case, welcome to the club!
This is the clubhouse for Olbyfans. We have great fun here during, after and sometimes even in between episodes of Countdown. Some of us also enjoy listening to Keith do his sports thing with Dan Patrick on ESPN Radio every week.

All I know is, if a smoking gun is ever discovered in Ohio that incontrovertibly proves that Blackwell was up to no damn good, there is going to be a whole lot of "I told you so-ing" from this quarter.

4. Ohio is a corrupt state
Blackwell/elections, Coingate with Noe & Taft too. Hope we can straighten out Ohio at the next election.

I have followed Keith since the election, occasionally I do jump in and post here in the clubhouse, but mostly I am just a reader.

I read where Botony is near Columbus, I am in Clark county, which area are you in Ohio?

5. Hello DemReadingDU
http://www.thousandreasons.org/get_article.php?article_id=13

Just a little of what I saw and heard in Ohio last November.

I really wish I had never seen what i saw or heard what I heard .....
to this date it still haunts me.

I hate hearing "talking heads," writers, and academics spouting off
why Kerry lost. Well he "lost" getting the electoral votes from Ohio
but he did "win" this state ..... it was stolen. End of story but the media
will not say a damn thing about this crime.

The Harpers' story calls out the media for their complicity
in the theft. But Harpers is not the "tee vee" and until this story gets
on the boob box it will go no where.

6. As for me, I'm in the north
and it disgusts me what passes for government in this state. Love the state, hate the politics. Every day something new and terrible comes out.

And I can tell you I am sick and tired of "taking the blame" for the current state of affairs because "you elected him, and you stuck all of us with him." It has been especially bad that way lately because of all the soldiers Ohio has lost. There is a certain degree of "serves you right" attitude emanating from certain so-called progressive people that disturbs me greatly...those who like to think of themselves as more urbane, sophisticated and intelligent than those "sheeple" of Ohio who allegedly elected Bush.

Well, I'm sick of it. Not all of us voted for him, and it may never be known exactly how many didn't, or would have voted against him had they felt able to get to the polls or wait for hours or had the voting machine not broken down. And we may never know whether some of our votes counted even if we cast them. Besides which, individual states don't elect presidents, countries do. It makes no sense to blame Ohio any more than any other so-called "red state." Yet we are bearing the brunt of the blame.

7. I hear ya, Berry
Frankly, I don't think Texas went as red as the results indicate, thank you very much e-voting. Judging by the number of Kerry yard signs in neighborhoods where you would have expected to see Bush signs, I think someone had a thumb on the scales here, too.

And yes, I'm tired of the red state/blue state mentality. Look at the map o' purple, folks. Even "red" states have progressive folk in them... and calling moderates "sheeple" isn't going to win them to your side. And who is DU (collectively) to call anyone sheeple when we occasionally going into lemming mode like the current wall-to-wall obsession with Cindy Sheehan? She's important, she did a fantastic interview on Countdown (major props to KO for asking appropriate questions and then letting her answer them, something he's good at but which is rare in the news biz these days), but you'd think the rest of the universe had ceased to exist.

8. GK
http://www.projectcensored.org/newsflash/voter_fraud.html

Political Science Prof in California looked @ the election .......

I know what you mean about some "red areas" showing strong
support for Kerry .... around Columbus, OH both suburbs of
Worthington & Arlington showed big Kerry support ......

It pisses me off that every component in a box of mac & cheese must
be listed by law but the source codes to the voting machines and
central tabulators are kept secret because they are proprietary
knowledge ...... but we get to pay for it.

11. oh, I know
and if I'd written code that bad for a class project 25 years ago, I would have gotten an F on the project. With the "bullshit" stamp liberally applied to my paper program listing, no less. (The graders actually had one and loved to use it.)

13. gee, it sounds like the 4,000 votes were pre loaded into the machine.
That machine in Gahanna should have been the tip off of a massive
election theft ....... but the Ohio Dems did nothing and the local repug
controlled press killed the story.

Once again "glitch" favored *.

12. Thanks for sharing
This is the first I have read something by Prof Dennis Loo.

It's so discouraging to even vote knowing that my vote most likely won't be counted. How can we vote out the corrupt politicians when they fix the machines. arrgh

14. So nice to be heard, gk!
One thing I think some people have to learn is that while it may be tempting to always assume the people who don't agree with one politically are just plain stupid (and it may actually be so in some cases), it isn't always true, and it's highly unlikely to win you any opportunities to open eyes and ears or change minds. People don't much like being called stupid just because of what state they live in, or because they live in a rural area, or because they live in a place where a lot of people vote a certain way. And really, most states are so different from one place to another that you can't say that anyway.

And it's nice to know I'm not the only one who is a bit thrown by the onslaught of DU "Cindymania." Important story? Yes. Deserves to be told rather than squelched? Yes. A great way to try to turn the national dialogue in a direction other than the way the president would have it?? You bet. But...the only thing that matters in the world? No, far from it. The news media have a lot of ground to cover...and the fact that not all of them are on 24-hour Cindy-watch does NOT mean they are all MSM whores and dupes chasing after the Runaway Bride while Rome burns.

Now Rita Cosby...she's a whole different animal. Later this week I hear she's going to give us more news about the BTK killer. Yummy. :-(
