Can I just quietly freak out over here in this thread?
I just found this on the WWL board.

I am in southern Illinois, but I have recieved a couple of reports about Wash. Parish. I just recieved a report at noon for the Stoney Point area west of Franklinton. Many of the houses along Hwy 450 near Stoney Point and along Wilford Bond road are intact.

Lots of trees are down in this area mostly in people's yards.

Apparently at least two tornadoes went through near this area. One near the Tangi/Wash border near the fish house on Hwy 16 and another outside of Franklinton on the way to Bogalusa. The second knocked down a lot of trees and is effectively stopping all traffic to Bogalusa from Franklinton.

I have heard (third hand) that Franklinton has suffered major damage. This person grew up in Franklinton. Her exact words were that "the Franklinton we knew prior to this storm has ceased to exist". I apoligize for creating fear with third hand info, but I thought that people would want to know about the damage in the area.

May God Bless and Guide the people in Wash. Parish, LA and MS!

Jason

All of my aunts, uncles, cousins etc. are in Franklinton. My family has lived there for GENERATIONS. I am related to half the town.

2. C'mere, you.
 Okay, tell me about the place. Is is like here, no basements because of the water table? What sort of shelter would they have had to go to?

They might be sheltered in the new firehouse, schools, etc.

10. Guh.
Communications with Washington Parish have NOT been established. Even FEMA can't get in touch with officials in Washington Parish. Local radio stations in Baton Rouge are reporting that Washington Parish was hit hard, very hard. The usual roads into that area are closed. There are trees down on the roads/highways.

13. I know, love.
But trees down doesn't equal people down. It usually equals people with no electricity bored out their minds because the TV doesn't work and the A/C doesn't work and whose bright idea was it to stock up on SPAM?

Until then, all we can do is pray, hope and

I hope it counts for a wee little bit. I only wish we could turn the whole thing back. I can't even imagine how frightened you must be. Take care.

Ok, this is third-hand info I got from my mom who just talked with one of her old classmates who drove into Franklinton today:

No flooding in Franklinton but alot of wind damage. Several trees down and it is difficult to get around town because of all the trees. Many people out in the streets with their chainsaws trying to clear out roads. He said he had not heard of any major injuries or deaths within the town (which is good news for those of us who know how small and close-knit that town is, information travels fast). Again, this is third-hand info, and not very detailed, but at least is is SOME info.

Hope this helps guys.
