For the Unitarians
Here is an excerpt from the Unitarian Jihad:

"...Unitarian Jihad will begin a series of terrorist-like actions. We will take over television studios, kidnap so-called commentators and broadcast calm, well-reasoned discussions of the issues of the day. We will not try for 'balance' by hiring fruitcakes; we will try for balance by hiring non-ideologues who have carefully thought through the issues."

http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2005/04/08/DDG27BCFLG1.DTL

This tangentially relates to KO because he mentioned once that he was raised Unitarian. Also, because he broadcasts calm, well-reasoned discussions of the issues of the day, or at least makes a fair effort at it.

1. Thanks, Quanlin! I have great respect for Yoo-Yoos . . .
. . . They don't let ANY culture go to waste!

Matter of fact, I never saw other churches advertising jazz services until about 10 years after the Unitarians first did it. Maybe it took even longer!

4. Around here, the Catholics do a Polka Mass every summer.
Part of our Shanty Days celebration, it's become quite popular. And it's not as tacky as you'd think.

(although, come to think of it, how do ya polka to "Holy, Holy, Holy Lord?")

8. that would be cool!
Well, we did take in over $3,000 for our Easter offering. Not bad, when you consider that church has an average attendance of 50.

Got your PM, and thanks.

. . . giving the spiritual pep talks.

A bargain at twice the price.

Until we move to WI, I'm thinking of checking out the local Unitarians again.
Maybe they'll invite Keith to speak. :loveya::bounce::loveya:

10. I have gone to concerts at the Unitarian church in Ithaca, NY
I have heard the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra there several times (they are excellent). They hold their smaller chamber concerts at the Unitarian church at the corner of Aurora and Cayuga streets. I think they do this because a) the church is open to it and b) the acoustics are good.

Hmm, wonder if anyone else's bottom has ever sat on the same pews mine have at those concerts.

Maybe not, but it's a pleasant thought anyway.
