Actually, as much as I hate it, this combo really does go together.
And, after the "State of New Orleans" segment, I think I promised to never dis the grey suit again. O8)

Do you think we could find a tie that would work for both the grey suit and the GSB one? Hmm.

122. Even the Post was pretty mean about it.
"FRUMPY VS. TRAMPY" ran the headline in the Style section, along with pictures of Laura Bush in her hat and suit, and Barbara picking her way along in heels and dress that left little to the imagination. I sincerely doubt Barbara spends her evenings meditating on the purity of womankind.

145. I think you may be right:
"The next great change in the Catskill landscape was caused by the most recent of four periods of glaciation, the Wisconsin. Every mountain except Slide (and perhaps even that) was buried in the ice that came down from the north; while the effect was not as profound as that observed in the Adirondacks, the glaciers carved two gaps, today known as Plattekill and Kaaterskill Clove, in the Helderberg Escarpment and formed the Hudson River, as well as some cirques such as Maltby Hollow."

There have been lots of hostages before, including journalists and women. So why are they releasing female Iraqi detainees in exchange for this one? (Yes, authorities claim there's no quid pro quo going on here... do you believe that?) Why 6 and not 8? I thought there weren't any female detainees. And does anyone really believe the number is only 8?

I'm not saying I wouldn't be glad to see her safely released; of course I would. This just smells fishy.

Edited on Wed Jan-18-06 08:24 PM by bettyellen
aside from:

decent variety of libations, including wine and mixed cocktails as well as beer
not too high $$$
not too loud and pick-up- ish but still fun
wheelchair accessible
roomy enough to absorb us all
a short walk from the restaurant
some bar food available (for other NYers that might join us)

am i missing something? i don't have the energy to do the yahoo thing today.
:)
going to pick some brains this weekend and i want everything to be as nice as possible for you guys.

It's a lot to ask for, but hopefully there will be something that fits.

If there was a place where we could get our own private room, that would be great, but probably too much to ask for.

that was my concern w/ small restuarants, too many times they don't have room to even stand at the bar. and a wait is kinda inevitable on a saturday night with a 6-top, reservations or no.
people in ny will wait outside if they have to. X(
but i wanna make sure we have some elbow room/ seating available. after 24 hours in NY, some of you will need to sit.
i'll keep that in mind.
i'll remember that.

131. Dan's entire show today was a laugh riot.
Phil the Showkiller came up with a whole bunch of new recorded announcements with which he kept interrupting Keith, in which Keith was mocked and ridiculed and told that the Dan Patrick Show was not getting behind him for so long as he refused to deal with his "off-the-court issues."

This, after Keith did his first broadcast from home the day before and was so silly that Dan asked him "Have you been drinking?" (He also asked what was up with "that medicine you take, or used to take." Keith, affronted, responded that he had NEVER been on any medication!)

91. I'm surprised that Countdown
isn't covering Ramon Saul Sanchez. He was on a hunger strike to protest the US's repatriation of the 15 Cubans who landed on the old bridge (which technically did not connect to land) and failed the "wet foot/dry foot" policy.

This was the guy who was walking around like the lead in The Red Badge of Courage with the bloody bandage on his head during the Elian Rodriguez fiasco.

He's was waiting for a written note from the WH that they would meet with him. Jebbie said yesterday in a public forum that they would speak with him, and he's ended it after 12 days.

He's was laying out on the street, in the middle of Little Havana, in a tent. Cars would go by and beep at him, waving the Cuban flag.

Look how quickly the WH capitulates to this heavily Republican community.

They were having fun imagining how you initiate a conversation with a guy who's just accidentally cut off his fingertip as to what he plans to do with it, so you can get it before he throws it away. "Uh, I know you're bleeding profusely all over the place and all but...you gonna do anything with that?"
