"Hardball Plaza"? Can "Countdown Plaza" be far behind? |
|
Looking at Tweety tonight, I see he's got a bunch of people outside in DC and is interviewing them and having them ask Pat Buchanan questions. He's calling it "Hardball Plaza." I gather this is his excuse for being able to get out of the studio on a nice day.
Hey! Is he forgetting who has the most popular show on MSNBC right now? I ask you...can "Countdown Plaza" be far behind?
Just think of it...Keith outdoors. Interviewing the people and having them ask questions.
Where would Countdown Plaza be? I think the home run porch at Yankee Stadium would be a good choice. I'm sure Keith would agree. What do you say?
Bring your glove!

1. KO is on record as hating 'on the street' interviews. |
|
He does'nt like having people crowd around him.

2. He could put them behind a barrier like on the Today Show. |

3. it's not just the crowding |
|
it's that you usually end up talking to people who are drunk, morons, or both, if I'm recalling his comments correctly. Gogi, you thinking about the stuff he said back when he was talking about interviewing Izzy as a teenager?

4. No, it was an interview in a newspaper. |
|
You're right, he does'nt consider the comments newsworthy but I always get the impression KO likes to be in control as much as possible when he's presented with large crowds of people focusing on him. Must be a result of the stalking incident.

5. Hmm... it might be a simple matter of HIS maintaining focus. |
|
Lord knows Tweety doesn't know what focus means, unless it's a camera shot. :eyes:
But Keith's questions show not just immense preparation, but they also demonstrate that he actually LISTENS to his guests speak. Again, Tweety only loves the sound of his own voice.
You add a crowd to the mixture, and the focus becomes either the crowd, or the star of the show; but rarely the news. KO's smart enough to know that, and keeps the focus where it belongs. :)

6. I'd say it was another tentacle of |
|
the "I'm responsible for everything that goes wrong" attitude that he attributes his antisocial behavior at ESPN to. You don't let those behavior patterns go overnight, and if the only manifestation left of that monster is that he doesn't like doing crowd interviews, then he's a lucky man indeed.

8. And what's wrong with antisocial? |
|
Try being around me for a while, KO, I'll teach you what antisocial behavior is! Also what misanthropic, introverted, hermitic and alienated behavior is. I have a limited tolerance for being around too much commotion (people = commotion). Now don't get me wrong, I love my fellow KOEBER's but I have to have my space.B-)

9. ain't nothin' wrong with it. |
|
that's why I said if the only aspect of "I'm responsible for everything around me" that remains is a disinclination to do on-the-street stuff in a situation he doesn't control, he's lucky. Getting over Universal Responsibility ain't easy. ;-)

10. You know, guys, I only meant this in fun. |
|
I didn't really mean it, any more than I meant Keith should set up a satellite Countdown studio at Yankee Stadium.
I mean, really? Can you imagine Keith trying to get any serious conversation in with people who are all standing around watching a baseball game and hoping to catch a ball? (Not just because THEY would be distracted, but because HE would be distracted?)
It was a joking way of coming up with a new plan that would allow Keith to "kill two birds with one stone," is all.
Sometimes suggestions get taken way too seriously!
