22. I forgive the ignorant, but NOT the hypocrites! |
|
If they truely didn't know what Bush's been doing to hurt all of our futures, and when confronted with reality they "see the light" and change their ways (or at least are more humble about their positions and entertain new ideas), those people I will forgive.
But those who knowingly support this bum and his consequences and are hypocritical in the process of their support for him, I have NO forgiveness for NOR forgetfulness for either.
And time IS running out for the ignorant. The excuse of being ignorant of the truth, as it is becoming more exposed each day now, is less available to these people.
Feigning ignorance is it's own form of hypocrisy, and is in some ways worse than just being fundamentally hypocritical in one's views.
There are very few Republicans that aren't hypocrites. Perhaps there are some very wealthy people that are just honest in their selfishness about desiring society treat them like royalty, but they are likely hypocrites when talking about their support for religious dogma, which many probably don't support, or if they do, then they are religious hypocrites for supporting it, when Jesus wouldn't support them taking those stances. Those that aren't rich that support them are hypocrites for not seeing how most of the legislation that's welfare to the rich isn't hurting them and the rest of Americans, unless they somehow believe in their own slavery, just to support their views of religious dogma.

|
Are we supposed to have Bush-supporters arrested or purged? What are the consequences if we do not forgive?
If we want to remain committed to liberty and freedom for everyone, we pretty much have to forgive our ideological enemies.

That is sort of like hating someone who sends in their life savings to a televangelist or buys unnecessary and ineffective insurance they saw advertised on TV.
They fell for carefully packaged false advertising. People don't like to be told they were taken in by a con man. Pride is a strange emotion, and there will always be people who will cling to a position long shown to be false, for the sole reason that they think that admitting they were wrong is worse.
The ones who cling to their position in public but know it in private are to be pitied, but not hated. The ones who cling to their love of Bush despite knowing all the facts may not be worthy of hate, but are definitely deserving of a large dose of wary apprehension.

Hating any voter assumes that the politics of hate is valid.
The idea of "forgiving" a voter convicts the "forgiver" of the very same mentality being opposed.

Right now I am still too angry at the fucking idiots for contributing to the near ruin of America. A near ruin that we will be lucky to get out of in a generation's lifetime if we even in fact ever recover from it.
I know the old adage that you can forgive but not forget....but at this moment in time I can do neither. The fact that 1/3 of the country still supports that bastard sitting in the WH is proof to me that the battle to take back our country has not been won by a long shot. Not to mention Bush is still in office, we are still at war in Iraq and talking of going to war against Iran. This ain't over yet and I am not going to consider forgiving anyone until it's well over and been over for a while.

I believe most Liberals believe what Jesus had to say whether they are religious or not. It is just a decent way to treat others. You forgive and always remember honey attracts more flies than vinegar. Republicans believe and believe strongly "it is better to be feared than loved" Jesus never believed that and neither do Liberals.
