Amazing.

PAPER CLIPS is the moving and inspiring documentary film that captures how these students responded to lessons about the Holocaust-with a promise to honor every lost soul by collecting one paper clip for each individual exterminated by the Nazis. Despite the fact that they had previously been unaware of and unfamiliar with the Holocaust, their dedication was absolute. Their plan was simple but profound. The amazing result, a memorial railcar filled with 11 million paper clips (representing 6 million Jews and 5 million gypsies, homosexuals and other victims of the Holocaust) which stands permanently in their schoolyard, is an unforgettable lesson of how a committed group of children and educators can change the world one classroom at a time.

2. Sounds like they learned many lessons from this
First, persistance-it would take that to gain that many paper clips. Second, compassion. If they heard just a few of the stories of those who perished, the students would hope, at the very least, that the victim's families somehow found peace-if they are spiritual, they would pray that the souls of those departed found peace. Third, that working together accomplishes many things, among them the concept that we are all interconnected. Thanks for letting me know about this.

3. It's moving beyond belief. They received a suitcase from a group of German
kids. With handwritten notes from these kids apologizing to Anne Frank.

And, stories of Holocaust survivors. One man said that every survivor has stories, that there isn't enough paper or pens on this Earth to tell all of the stories.

It's playing on HBO On Demand.

4. I know of one Muslim who died in the Holocost
She was Nurunisa Khan, daughter of the founder of my Sufi Order. Her brother, Vilayat, spent the rest of his lifetime working on getting over his grief and anger over her death. I can imagine what pain this terrible event caused many many people.

5. Oh My God...
I watched that movie in 7th grade! It was so good and so sad!! It was a part of the Jackson (Miss.) Jewish Film Festival and after the movie was over, the person that was there gave us all paper clips to wear on our shirts, shoes, etc. It was really moving, like you said.
