There you have it: WaPo willing to lie to prop up Bush

In a post on her internal weblog, Washington Post ombudsman Deborah Howell has reportedly endorsed the practice of printing misleading -- even false -- Bush administration claims without including a word of rebuttal to those claims. Howell's post, which concerned a recent Media Matters for America item about a Washington Post article, also contained a misleading description of a conversation between the Post reporter who wrote the article and a Media Matters spokeswoman.

5. Some of us believe that Woodward was planted at the WaPo in an effort to
save the fascist agenda from the working class Nixon - Nixon was a progressive compared to what you have seen from Republicans in the last two decades.

Nixon was a bit of a loon, so that helped push him out of favor with the elite, and Bush1 wanted to run in 1980 - he was their designated champion, but Reagan bested him in the primaries. Still, the real powerstructure forced Reagan to add Bush as VP.

7. Interesting.
Are you also saying that we never got to se the "real" George Bush Sr. when he "retired early"?
I dont recal getting the "lets fuck america because we can" vibe from the GW administration. Cheeny seemed a lot more like a buisness man back then.

9. They couldn't push it so aggressively - Dem congress - and they still
didn't have control over the broadcast media as much as they do now. I'd say they were advancing themselves quietly then.

I don't think they'd be as aggressive about the powergrab now if it hadn't been for 9-11. Media simply let them go unchecked.
