1. thank you for the post. it brought back all the memories. i

feel like crying. i was sleeping and my husband was in chicago on business. he called me a little after 6 a.m. arizona time and ask me had i heard?

i called my friends in new york who had an apartment in the city but also a house upstate. thankfully they were out of the city.

i called my friend in LA and said "don't go to work today. maybe they're going to hit LA at 9:00 when people would be getting to work." he agreed.

my husband couldn't get a plane home, couldn't get the car rental agency on the phone so he just kept his rental car and started to drive home to phoenix. he would call me every few hours. he was trying not to wear down the charge on the cell phone.

my sister called. her husband worked in DC and had left SC on a plane for DC. just around the time he arrived the pentagon was hit.

it was a surreal experience -- being all alone in phoenix with no family here and my husband out of town.
