4. because the repugs always march in jackbooted lockstep. It's a numbers
thing. More repugs than Dems, so repugs carry the day. this is why it's important to NEVER let a repug get into office. Never.

8. We need some republicans to prevent it
and they still appear to be mindless followers of this administration. As independent as lemmings running over a cliff.

9. I am going to say NO.
This nominee will be filibustered. If they don't stand up now, they never will. My money is on NO.

10. Wake up!
This is no time to concede defeat. He MUST be filibustered! Have you written, emailed, called, faxed the Dem. senators? Let them know HOW IMPORTANT it is that A-LIE-TOE not be confirmed.

11. Why can't we filibuster if it gets down to it?
Look, this guy has proven, at the very least, to be inconsistent. He wants to overturn Roe, but then he says he won't. I want a guy who shoots straight, and this sucker, frankly, couldn't hit the side of an office tower if he tried.

12. Sadly, yes. Not to worry though, Bush is the same as Gore.
Alito is the same as William O. Douglas.

15. But we're NOT HELPLESS if the Dem leaders FILIBUSTER!
All that's required is a pair of titanium balls. Do you think they got the guts to do it?

23. Unless They Do the "Nuclear Option". Then We Really Are Helpless.
We are all at the mercy of the few "moderate" Republicans at this point.
Unless they can be persuaded to break with their party, we're screwed.

25. We are helpless because they don't represent us. Not really.
I'd be delighted to be proven wrong - I'd do a public apology thread and get drunk....

14. No, I think the Dems will filibuster
and the Repubs won't use the nuclear option. I don't think the Repubs have the public behind them on this. I think the Senators are worried about the executive power issue and that Dems realize they will infuriate their activists if they don't.

I'm an optimist.

In the current climate, that's about the only thing that will derail this nomination.

20. No.
Not legally. Bush&Co will break the law... yet again. Oh, wait. The Bush Cabal is ABOVE the law, so they tell us.

The Executive Branch of the U.S. Government is rogue. Nothing what they do or say from this point on is legal.

22. IMO, only by filibuster can we stop it.
We have to figure on losing at least two votes, in Lautenberg and Nelson, and they only need a majority. Even if we get several Pubs, it won't be enough to beat 51.

gotta filibuster

....the spirit of FDR will rise above Washington and will put the needed backbone into the flubbery Dems....this crop of Dems will have heavy explaining to do why they let this guy onto the Court after a few votes....

....I have faith in our fearless Dems....filibuster and take it to the people....
