This $100 "gas relief" that Frist keeps prattling about--
Edited on Fri Apr-28-06 04:48 AM by Skidmore
are Dems prepared to address this notion with the derision it deserves? $100 will fill my gas tank 2.5 times. It won't help after that. Also, I'm sure $100 will really serve as mad money for our nation's millionaires. This has got to be the most ridiculous solution they could have come up with. Dems need to be prepared to say this doesn't resolve the corruption associated with corporate welfare.

The "Beano" solution.

6. People are stupid.
This is a typical republican response, Give the little people some candy and they will shut up long enough for you to steal another election.

9. It was not a stupid move. You got it fast with a Picture of Bush
The rich got their later after you were happy with your little pile. If it worked once why not once more? I believe the policies need to be changed but then I am a dem. with no power. I bought a little car 10 years ago because I felt it was on the way. I lived in Alaska for 10 years and saw an eco. based on a pipe line. I recall when the big guys came in from Tex. and cut the help on the line, before the spill, and stopped pumping as much gas, as the price was not high enough, as they jet around the state on the profits from the gas I was buying. The word has been out for years but no one wanted to hear it.

20. It is a cynical and condescending move, and should be
spoken of in the tone it deserves. Why shouldn't we demand more than a little pile?

32.  Do you really think this Congress is going to help us ?
What they should do and what they are doing is not on the same page. I mean look at the oil companies getting brakes on oil leases. Now give me a brake why would they need that? I think we all should re do our home budgets and figure gas in at prices they pay in Europe.

4. All this does is . . .
subsidize the people who are forced to subsidize the oil companies and oiil producing countries.

How do we pay for this $100 gas gift? Selling more bonds to the fascist Chinese?

5. And the people who need it the most won't get it.
those on low, fixed incomes like retirees on Social Security that don't earn enough money to file taxes would get......zilch, nada, nothing. Bush and Cheney would get their $100 though. :eyes:
It's a typical Republican reaction, forget all about the people that REALLY need help and give it those who don't. What is WRONG with these people?

14. More May File Than You Realize
There's a credit for the disabled that only those with a very low income can claim, as well as the Earned Income Credit. A lot of "retirees" on Social Security are still working, and file just to get back the money that's jacked from their checks.

I'm not saying it's 100% - just trying to find the light before the storm.

19. I'm collecting SS and working full-time.
I have to file. And it's not to get back the money that's jacked from my check because I usually end up paying at the end of the year.

they think throwing money at people will make them forget about the fact this mess is their fault. They think people will forget about the war for $100. They think $100 will make people forget about Katrina.

how can they just hand out $100 bucks to each person, when not everyone drives/owns a vehicle? How are they determining who gets it? Is this a rebate when you do your taxes next year? Or is this immediate?

sorry poll numbers too.

Why is Frist such an all out GOP/Bush asskisser? My theory, is that the top cats at the GOP/T-4, have offered Dokkktor Frist the job of making all the "SELECTIONS" at every "detainment"/death camp that Halliburton is Building as I type. When Bushco starts to "RELOCATE" all the "Librul NAYSAYERS" Herr Doktor Frist will meet all the incoming trains, planes, ships and buses at the station. Frist wants to get in on all the fun and fame that A Nazi Doktor is entitled to by birth. He wants to be on the cutting edge of the New World Reich's, Final Solution, to the "Librul" problem...

Bill Frist is waiting for your calls

17. For no reason whatsoever my gas/light bill went up $150 last month
I'm on budget billing and they said because a 70% increase is due to start in July for the Baltimore area. Well, if I could afford an extra $150 a month then I wouldn't be on budget billing. One hundred dollars wouldn't feed my bird-- they should not bother to insult the American people in such a ridiculous manner. I've had to borrow money from my kids to help pay for gas this week-- how crazy is that? They're 7 and 9.

21. Here's how Democrats should answer this silly shit.
Don't try to explain to the stupid that it's a bad idea. Play poker with these assholes and say "We'll see your $100 and raise you $300". If they want to play this game then raise the stakes until it hurts them. All it is is a bribe like their $300 tax cut back in 2000. Jack up the stakes. If $100 is a good idea then $400 is a great idea.

23. If the dems oppose it, they will be crucified in the press
The media will be on it like salivating dogs. The mean old egg head libruls don't want us to have a cool hundred for free. Then they will have to go along with it, and if they ever say anything about it again, it will be "flip-flopping." One thing you can say for pukes...they are great at creating corners to back Dems into. And the dems up in Washington, for the most part, seem to care little. Sure these ideas the pukes hatch are pandering, unethical, logically fallacious, and just plain evil. But you have to give them points for creativity. The dems are going to have to hire consultants who can take these hair-brained schemes and wrong-headed ideas and turn them back around on the pukes. And then, they must replace the hair-brained schemes with GOOD IDEAS that the pukes HAVE to follow or else.
