Does anyone else remember when one of the subjects on this board was concern over laws giving FEMA unlimited power during a disaster? I believe that was several years ago. The agency felt like a threat to civil liberties precisely because under Clinton it was effective and well run. Now it has been gutted by cronyism, incompetence, and lack of funding. *'s complete lack of interest in protecting NO has now resulted in the Congress suggesting shutting down the agency altogether. Its miserable record post-hurricane has the people in accord. It appears to me this is the template for dismantling government until it can be drowned in the bathtub and turned over to Halliburton and its kind.
Mission Accomplished.

1. Right, after it was granted all sorts of power |
|
those grants will be transferred to whichever agency/company the Bush admin deems fit. It's a sleight of hand.

3. I think instead of dismantling FEMA, |
|
they need to take it AWAY from DHS, and put it back to the way it was BEFORE this idiot and his cronies took it over.

5. Why aren't people making a bigger deal about Bush running... |
|
an entire federal agency into the dirt? This is the defacto PROOF that Republicans can't govern! Give them the most important best run government agency, and just a few years, and they'll destroy it! Now they want us to hand them Social Security?! How does Bush explain this? I haven't heard anyone on the news holding him accountable for it.
