Depleted uranium: Dirty bombs, dirty missiles, dirty bullets

A death sentence here and abroad

by Leuren Moret

At an April press conference, a group of New York Army National Guard vets raised their hands when asked if they have health problems. The soldiers, all from the 442nd Military Police Company, are complaining of headaches and fatigue after what they think is exposure to depleted uranium during their recent tour in Iraq.

“Military men are just dumb stupid animals to be used as pawns in foreign policy.” - Henry Kissinger, quoted in “Kiss the Boys Goodbye: How the United States Betrayed Its Own POW’s in Vietnam”

Vietnam was a chemical war for oil, permanently contaminating large regions and countries downriver with Agent Orange, and environmentally the most devastating war in world history. But since 1991, the U.S. has staged four nuclear wars using depleted uranium weaponry, which, like Agent Orange, meets the U.S. government definition of Weapons of Mass Destruction. Vast regions in the Middle East and Central Asia have been permanently contaminated with radiation.

And what about our soldiers? Terry Jemison of the Department of Veterans Affairs reported this week to the American Free Press that “Gulf-era veterans” now on medical disability since 1991 number 518,739, with only 7,035 reported wounded in Iraq in that same 14-year period.

This week the American Free Press dropped a “dirty bomb” on the Pentagon by reporting that eight out of 20 men who served in one unit in the 2003 U.S. military offensive in Iraq now have malignancies. That means that 40 percent of the soldiers in that unit have developed malignancies in just 16 months.

Since these soldiers were exposed to vaccines and depleted uranium (DU) only, this is strong evidence for researchers and scientists working on this issue, that DU is the definitive cause of Gulf War Syndrome.

1. They dwell amongst us, poisoned or not, stable or not, properly
cared for or not, they have children, and their children bear the effects of the poisons they have been exposed to. Osama didn't have to lift a finger to get us to harm our own in ways we have only begun to understand.

Our troops in Iraq will be severely affected by this radioactive war, not only because a lot more depleted uranium has been used and continues to be used, but also because they have been there a lot longer than during the Gulf War. Hundreds of thousands of our troops will come down with Gulf War Syndrome as a result of depleted uranium poisoning, and thousands will die from it. Thousands of their children will be born with genetic diseases, cancers and birth defects.

3. yes, journalist friend did story yrs ago on GWarVets and
their children-horrific. Pentagon intention to use their soldier fodder and leave them to die in combat or stateside-that message is very clear. A truly evil process of slow genocide.

4. Dirty bomb, is the effect on any area where depleted Uran. is used
Edited on Mon May-01-06 07:43 PM by oscar111
so it seems to me.

Why is this not a big issue in the news?

There was a big outcry over Three Mile Island's radioactive release... the depleted uranium situation is the same.

should be a big outcry in both cases.

"ALL URANIUM BACK INTO THE GROUND"

Man is not competent to handle uranium.

5. bad stuff, not good for humans other creatures.
I looked up the issue on Wikipedia. Surprisingly, the issue with depleted uranium is not its radioactively, but that it is a toxic substance. They didn't go into detail, but I believe that lead is also toxic. Bottom line, when you shoot off that much ordanance, its not good for people

6. apparently DU is loaded with heavy metals . . .
that get into the lungs and bloodstream when DU dust is inhaled . . .

a seldom discussed aspect of DU contamination is its effect on other species . . . the earth is already extinguishing species at an alarming rate, and dumping tons of this stuff into the environment is bound to negatively impact indigenous creatures . . .

just one more way that humans are destroying our home planet . . . to quote Tony Soprano, "You don't shit where you eat . . . and you DEFINITELY don't shit where I eat!" . . .
