2. You must be referring to Kennedy and Specter |
|
Senator Kennedy requested that they go to executive committee to discuss getting a subpoena for the CAP records. Specter basically blew him off, Kennedy fired back, Specter banged his gavel and yelled that Senator Kennedy doesn't decide when they go to executive committee, and that the request would be considered.

Kennedy got Alito on the record that Alito remembered nothing about CAP (Concerned Alumni of Princeton) except that he joined it to protest Princeton dropping ROTC. Then Kennedy got iton the record that Alito maintained his involvement with the group for years and even stated on an application to the Justice Dept. during the Reagan Administration that Alito was proud of this membership. Then Kennedy introduced various publications from CAP that were ugly racist and sexist and homophobic. Alito protested he could not possibly have seen these or he would not have maintained an association with this group. Then Kennedy asked Alito if Alito had any objection to the Committee reviewing the documents held in the Library of Congress concerning CAP. Alito said he had no problem with that. Then Kennedy told Specter that Kennedy had requested Specter have the Committee obtain the documents. Kennedy had sent a letter to Specter. Specter denied getting it, implying Kennedy was lying. Kennedy had a signed receipt for delivery of the letter to Specter's office, and a letter from Specter denying the request. Kennedy called for a vote from the committee on whether to subpoena the records. Specter refused. Kennedy asked that the committee go to closed session SOLELY for the purpose of voting on the matter. Specter blew up and said HE was in charge and He would decide when to go to closed session (I think they call this executive session). Specter made an ass of himself. Knowing that his office had reviewed the request, I suspect it was denied because they are afraid of what will be revealed.
I just emailed Specter's office and said Specter owed Kennedy an apology, that the Committee should definitely get those documents.

|
as a coverup.
the pubs already know what's in the records, and don't want it revealed.

9. One more thing Kennedy did |
|
He blew Alito's "ROTC concern" line of thinking out of the water by getting it on the record that the ROTC had already been back on campus for a year BEFORE Alito joined CAP.
