Anyone know why the DU EDIT line sometimes does not appear?
Sometimes the title is different on the Latest or Greatest page from the title on the post. BUT, there is no red edit line saying it was changed.

This irritates me since it could happen that I respond to something that then changes without any indication that that change occurred. DU recently fixed such titling problems with the Recent posts where the post titles would remain as the original unedited title, but the article would have the new edited title. Fine. But, the RED "Edited by ... on ..." would be the first line in the post.

ON THE GREATEST PAGE (Hope it is still there if you look.):

1. Dont' blame benburch. Blame the admins.
We will often change the titles when we add posts to the homepage. Usually, we do it for one of the following reasons:

1. To make the title more discriptive, or

2. To get rid of freaky discussion-forum speak ("OMG! THIS IS HUGH!!!111") or excessive punctuation or excessive capitalization.

The homepage is the "face" of DU, and want it to look good.

2. The edit does show for admin edits, just not some. That's fine. Thanks.
Access to the computer means you can change anything into anything.

Amazing how so much rides on the integrity of three humans. I cannot thank you enough.

3. The reason the edit doesn't show on the post...
...is because we're not actually editing the post. Note that the title change only appears on the Greatest Page and the Homepage. The post itself is unchanged.

You will be assimilated. :)

In all seriousness, thanks for the explanation. And the new front page has to go.
