Laura Bush Sets All-Time Record, Flip-Flops in Just 25 Seconds
Yesterday in an interview with CNN’s John King, First Lady Laura Bush said “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with singing in Spanish.” King then reminded the First Lady that her husband said the national anthem should only be sung in English. She quickly reversed her position, telling King “I think it should be sung in English, of course.” Just 25 seconds had elapsed since her first answ

Transcript:

KING: One of the debates in the country right now is about immigration reform, illegal immigration. One of the controversies is this new Spanish language version of the national anthem. Your husband the president says he thinks it should only be in English. But if you go to the state department website you can find it, I think, in four languages. Secretary Rice says she’s heard rap versions.

MRS. BUSH: Well, we’ve all heard different versions like at the Super Bowl every year. I don’t think there is anything wrong with singing it in Spanish. The point is it’s the United States national anthem and what people want is it to be sung in a way that respects the United States and our culture. At the same time, we are a nation of immigrants. We are a nation of many, many languages, because immigrants come and bring their languages.

KING: Is that an issue you disagree with your husband? He says it should be sung in English.

MRS. BUSH: I think it should be sung in English, of course.

SAN JOSE, CA (IWR News Parody) - Laura Bush today introduced an updated version of Nancy Reagan's old "Just Say No" to Drugs campaign. This time, instead of having kids say "No" to drugs, the First Lady would like all American's to abandon all reason and "just say no" to science.
"On this historic occasion, here at this flea market in San Jose, we need to put an end, once and for all, to the Age of Enlightenment and just say 'no' to science, the teaching evolution in schools, and all this ghastly stem cell research devilry.

Poor Mrs. Reagan got hoodwinked by her evil Hollywood 'friends' and came out in favor of research to find a cure for Alzheimer's disease because she thought it would help 'The Gipper'.

But did it help her or Ronnie? No way, Jose! No pun intended. Because my husband, who is such a forward thinking genius, banned most embryonic stem cell research in this country.

Let those pagan French and German bastards go to hell if they want to, but we Americans will be on the Rapture fast track when the day of reckoning arrives. Let me tell you a little secret that Reverend Falwell told me. Jesus hates science! Well George and I hate science too!

So the next time some satanic science show like Nova comes on the TV, just say 'No' and immediately change the channel to the 700 Club or Fox News.

4. This is a sentence of about 7th grade literacy I would say:
We are a nation of many, many languages, because immigrants come and bring their languages.

11. Flesch-Kincaid algorithm
Flesch-Kincaid grade level

The following is the algorithm to determine the Flesch-Kincaid grade level.

* Calculate the average number of words you use per sentence.

* Calculate the average number of syllables per word.

* Multiply the average number of words by 0.39 and add it to the average number of syllables per word multiplied by 11.8.

* Subtract 15.50 from the result.

* Algorithm: (0.39 * average_words_sentence) + (11.8 * average_syllables_word) - 15.9

The result is the Flesch-Kincaid grade level. Like the Gunning-Fog index, it is a rough measure of how many years of schooling it would take someone to understand the content. Negative results are reported as zero, and numbers over twelve are reported as twelve.

9. She's a Stepford Wife.
There's something about the way she speaks. Her body language. Her expressions. The clothes she wears. How she acts around her husband.

She isn't her own person at all.

Regardless, I still don't like her.

12. That's not a flip-flop.
That's nuance. She doesn't think there is anything intrinsically wrong with it, but she herself thinks it should be sung in English -- acknowledging that as a good republican wife her opinion doesn't mean shit.

It's a fashion statement. Some people wear blue, but she likes red. There's nothing really wrong with blue, but red makes a better statement.

It's a matter of taste. Some people like snails, some people like oysters.

15. She is all that! I agree!
And I love to see it stated over and over and over again. She should never be held up as a role model. She should be called on being a school librarian too. A grade school library is nothing more than a classroom with a few book shelves. In other words it is a big nothing like Mrs. Stepford.

Edited on Thu May-04-06 11:42 AM by BlueStater
At least Babs doesn't try to hide who she is.

This bitch puts on this show of being a nice, friendly lady while defending everything her piece-of-shit husband does. While President Carter at the King funeral and now Colbert were speaking the truth, she had the same displeased look on her puss as the Shrub did.

Fuck her.
