Israel will no longer do biz with Robertson
http://www.kesq.com/Global/story.asp?S=4347661&nav=9qrx

JERUSALEM Israel is pulling the plug on American evangelist Pat Robertson.

A spokesman for the tourism minister says Israel is furious with Robertson over his suggestion that Prime Minister Sharon's stroke was punishment from God for giving up Gaza.

Israel's anger could jeopardize a 50 (m) million-dollar Christian Heritage Center planned in Israel by an evangelist group headed by Robertson. Israel had planned to provide the land for free.

The spokesman says Israel will do business with other evangelical leaders regarded as friends, but no longer with Robertson.

4. Good
It's about time someone stands up to Robertson. Good for Israel. They don't deserve his fake concerns and support. I'm glad they're doing that.

7. That's what happens...
when you get too big for your britches. It is one thing to prosletyze but entirely another to use preaching to bully people with an agenda.

after said Radical Cleric issued a Patwa against their duly elected leader.

11. Pat Robertson, Elliott Abrams, Sharon, and Bush
See related thread:

Pat Robertson, Elliott Abrams, Sharon, and Bush
By Matthew Rothschild
January 6, 2006

<snip>

Robertson was merely espousing in his typical clumsy style what a lot of rightwing fundamentalists believe: And that is that the existence of the state of Israel foretells the End Times, the coming of the Apocalypse, when Jesus will return and when everyone will either have to convert to Christianity or die. And Bush, whether he believes this or not, takes that constituency seriously.

14. Deciding that the leader was too irrational, they turn to Herman Gering...
They're still dealing with the same people for the same end.

Israel has no idea who the people they're dealing with are and how the evangelicals absolutely dilluted the Christian faith into an abomination of glitz and money.

Obviously it's a play to the American religous right, but why? For their support in some pending conflict?

Crazy.

18. Strange, didn't bother Israel when Pat was advocating assassination of
Venezuela President. Didn't bother Israel when he was dehumanizing Gays. Or attacking Women's rights. Or attacking Palestinians. Or said that God would attack a town if the textbooks were not religious.

It didn't matter that Israel was giving land that is shared by Palestinian Christians to Pat Robertson.

Then Pat spoke badly of Sharon, in his own perverse way, and the relationship crumbled.

Galilee biblical park on tap?
JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel is offering evangelical Christians a chunk of the Holy Land.

Thirty-five acres of rolling hills and rocky shores of the Sea of Galilee, tucked between key sites in Jesus' ministry, would be leased to an association of evangelists led by American religious broadcaster Pat Robertson, Israeli tourism officials say.
